Excellent location at the center of Madrid. Staff available 24 hours. Free internet access. The air conditioning unit is not very straightforward to use. A little information pamphlet on the operation might be a good idea. |

On our arrival at midnight - reception staff was very friendly and helpful. Location of Hostal was excellent - close to tourist sites, shopping, restaurants and bars.... |

The location is superb being yards from the Plaza de Mayor and within walking distance of many of the sights an places of interest. It is a quiet street so despite being in this busy and popular area there was little street noise during the night. We were put in the annexe across the street which was not the same three star standard as Castilla 11. Also it is not explained when booking that we were not paying up front and this caused confusion at check out when we were asked to pay. Staff were helpful when sorting this out but obviously also find it a problem to explain (especially if there is a language problem!) |

the staff was very helpful. Calm althoughg in the centre of the city. the first room offered was ...without windows! when I protested, the staff offered me another room. However, TV did not work and it smelled awfully of smoke, even keeping the window open. |

The location was very good, the room not so small and fairly clean. The hotel is too noisy, one can hear everything that happens in the corridor and other rooms. The front door is always open and there's no one in the reception desk (where all the keys are exposed), leaving a feeling that anyone can get in at any time. |

The location was very central, positioned between Plaza Mayor and Puerto del Sol. It was handy to a lot of great bars, cafes, and restaurants as well as the Metro system. And I felt quite safe in the area. Bedspread was stained. |

Very close to the city center. The staff do not speak English. The floor and wall are very thin so can hear noise from next room and the room above which is an nightmare to have a proper rest. |

the rooms are clean and, what's the most important in Madrid, with air conditioning. The hotel is really in the city center so it is in walking distance to all the main attractions. |

Great location, close to everything! We lived in new rooms opposite Hostal Castilla II - on the 4th floor in triple rooms. Rooms were spacious and clean, with new furniture. The only problem - very cold floor. |

The position is perfect; rooms was clean; forget about the hotel not having breakfast service: the Mallorquina, one of the best confectioneries/cafés of Madrid is so near you can have breakfast there everyday. Only one towel per person: bathroom could use an upgrade; you have to ask staff to turn ac on every time you want to use it (it's free and works well anyway); staff doesn't speak english. |

It was a great location and the room was clean The staff seemed disinterested. The room was small which is ok, but there wasn´t a window which made it stuffy and the air con kept getting turned off so the room would become hot and stuffy. |
