Room was very basic,no frill but was comfortable and clean. After sight-seeing all day it was pleasant to return to and get a good nights sleep. Very strong odor coming from commode area like sewer gas but plumbing was old and needed upgrade. |

city-center - proximity to key sites in Madrid. Also ties to history-Philippine hero Jose Rizal stayed at this hotel planning Philippine independence. no WIFI; would have liked internet access either through WIFI or guest-use PC. |

Have stayed here three times before, which says it all really. Excellent location for Metro and centre of Madrid. No need for taxis, for nightlife lovers - perfect. Breakfast is average, but no worse, and it is not expensive. |

The location was awesome. The price was very affordable and our rooms had balconies right on the street. Watch out for room 208. The was a big crack at the top of the door and was very flimsy. Igor tried to get me to break the door down to show how flimsy it was. We changed to room 206 and the shower was missing one of the doors so the floor would get all wet. |

The location is by far a very strong point of the hotel. I booked one of the recently renovated rooms and I think I made a very good choice. The staff was friendly, ready to help us with valuable suggestions. |

Friendly staff, basic room, value for money, proximity to shopping, restaurants and major Madrid attractions, quiet. Bathroom needs renovation in Rm 101. Some rooms (the one we stayed last year) have already been renovated and bathrooms are great. |

I loved the location right by Gran Via and Puerto del Sol. The fact that Virginia Woolfe had stayed there was an attraction. That the hotel was small and old was attractive too. The area was crowded and safe. I was travelling alone and arriving late at night. The room was tiny! Anyone larger than myself would have had a hard time using the toilet in the minute ( though reasonably well equipped) bathroom. Anyone claustraphobic would have run out of this crowded windowless space. Well, there were windows but they were completely shuttered off. |

Location, location, location! Close to most city's highlights, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, museums, etc. Nice staff. Good cost/benefit ratio. Not a complaint but... very small room (r. 155), though very silent. Airco working, old sheets, no fancy things in the room. |

Good location and reasonable cost to stay. Big room. Too hot in hotel room due to a lack of air conditioning. Used two fans but it was still too hot in the hotel room. |

Cleanliness was excellent, bathroom fixtures were top notch, accessible patio was a real plus. Air conditioning in the room was not under guest control, provided toiletries included only soap and shampoo, all electricity to room was turned off whenever you step out of the hotel. |

We stayed there twice and both rooms were large with plenty of space to hang clothes etc. If you want a/c, you should ask, otherwise there is only a fan in the room. The bathroom facilities were excellent if narrow. The breakfast room was generous (cost not included in room price). Location was perfect for the Prado and other tourist places within walking distance. Staff do not speak English but we managed. |
