You can hardly find an accomodation in Madrid that is more central with Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor around the corner. The streets could become very busy, especially at week ends or bank holidays before christmas (christmas market on Plaza Mayor !) but this only proofs the popularity of this place. At that, the hostal has moderate prices (25 EURO/night for a single room without facilities and 30 EURO/night for one with toilet) which makes the location almost perfect for a short stay. I booked a room timely in advance (5 months before) but when I arrived the booked category (non-ensuite) was obviously not available, so I was upgraded to an ensuite one charging 5 EURO more per night. Without a staff speaking one word English and me not speaking Spanish it is almost impossible to learn the reason for that. The real problem however was that there was no room service for the whole week of my stay. When I left my dust bin was more than full and not a single sheet of toilet paper was left. This is defintely something that has to be improved, the rest was ok. |

Great location between Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, near to some nice attractions, shops and restaurants and with easy access to the rest of the city and airport either by metro or bus. Small but clean rooms, perfect for a short stay as there is no cleaning during stay, at least during my 3 nights there and also because it is located on the 3rd floor of an old building and there is no lift, so it's better you take some small bags instead of heavy luggage. Great for shopping and night life as it's near a zillion shops, restaurants and clubs, including El Corte Ingles, Fnac and the famous Joy Eslava, one of the main in the capital. Might be complicated to sleep during weekend nights. You better off enjoying the night life outside. |

The room was really nice and the had a duvet which is not usual in spain. It was 5 min away from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, two of Madrids main attractions. The only thing I didn't like was the shower, it was clean but very "worn out" so I didn't want to take a shower but I am very picky when it comes to bathrooms! |

We liked the location as it was close to transport and a lot of the important areas (puerta de Sol) and we liked the privacy and price. The noise on the street made it very hard to sleep at all. Some better windows t block out sound would be nice. And a lift. |

location is absolutely perfect, it is quiet in the room even during the night when there is a lot of noise outside flashing the toilet felt a little bit like making small earthquake. strange noises, hotel may not be very easy to find but it is worth to lose 15 minutes for that price and that location |

Location, location, location. Walk to all shopping, restaurants, sightseeing venues, metro. The hostal was located on the 3rd floor with no elevator and no help with luggage. Difficult for two older females with heavy luggage. Noisy at night, but if your able to close all the window shutters, it does help keep out the street noise. Not a great place if your a light sleeper. If its hot, only a small table top fan is provided. |

For E30, a twin bedded room right in the heart of Madrid and with an en-suite bathroom. The building itself has an old fashioned charm about it. Cheaper than a hostel and with far superior accommodation, really unbeatable. It's on the fourth floor and there's no lift. Fine if you're travelling for the weekend, not so good if you have a large suitcase. |

I had requested an early check-in and was abruptly told that it is not possible. There was no sign of any assistance for any query while I was there. I would have been better off in a hostel if not for the fact that they have a room with their own toilet. I was given a room at the very end of the hallway with a small window beside the washing room. |

The worst place I have ever stayed and I am not used to luxory. Staff seemed nice but no one spoke a word of English which would be fine but there was no where to go when there was a problem. At one point was no toilet paper for around 12 hours so I had to go and steal some from McDonalds as there is no reception so if I was able to get round the language barrier there was no where to go and find someone to tell. Was incredibly noisy and impossible to sleep at night before 4am. Excellent location though. Second floor and no lift. No reception and no English speaking staff. No privacy in rooms as curtains don't draw across windows. No hand towels or soap in shared bathrooms. Incredibly noisy which made it impossible to sleep before 4am each night. |

Perfect location: between central metro station and Plaza Major. Historic building, very atmospheric and local flavour. Minimum cost, as needed. 24/7 hot water. The staff were wonderful, very willing to communicate with a bad Spanish speaker. Considerate and helpful: booking a 5am taxi, waking us up at 4.30, carrying down heavy suitcases For the cost I couldn't expect more. |

very small, but if you're on a budget, it's a decent stay. clean. comfortable bed. no a/c and is not extremely well ventilated, so not highly recommended for high summer seasons. winter, i imagine would be fine. towels are thin, might consider packing your own. |

The decor in the rooms was modern, and location was quite good - right near Sol metro station Although our stay here was acceptable, there were many things we were dissapointed with - The room was incredibly hot, and with no air conditioning, it meant that we had to leave all the doors and windows to the balconies open at night. While this helped a bit, it meant that the noise level through the night was unbearable - lots of garbage trucks, street cleaners, sirens, breaking glass etc. The bathroom was also tiny. Air condidtion would improve the comfort levels hugely. |

The location of the hostel is perfectly situated in the city centre and everywhere is walking distance. Less than 5 mins walk from Sol metro and to Plaza Mayor where you could chill. There isn't air conditioning and it can be quite hot during summer. |
