Cheap; Central; flexible staff; we went early and asked for an upgrade to a double room with a twin bed, and made it available immediatelly to us. We just had a few hours sleep, a shower and had to leave again, but it was a perfect location for us at a low price. I would suggest it if you need a cheap clean room with a nice bathroom and an lcd tv. Nothing luxurious, but great value for money. |

The staff were really very nice and helpful. We also liked the compact but effective hidden bathroom. The room was good but it did smell quite strongly of cigarette smoke unfortunately |

Easy access to the airport by metro. the reception is out during night until 8 am next morning. Security-wise it is not good. I did not feel very confortable as a single traveller. Shared bath room was not so clean and the lock of one of the bathrooms was still broken. It was noisy when someone uses the bathroom. |

the location - 2 mins from metro Manuel Baccera was fantastic, the staff were great too. I got ripped off by a taxi driver and the reception staff tried to call the cab firm to get my money back. If you go to this Hostal please be aware the cab fare from the airport should be 25-30 euros only. the other guests!! i had one very disturbed night when several guests decided to have a party at 3am! |

Friendly staff, cleen and well kept place, quiet area, near public transport Would have liked to have the light for the shared bathroom on the inside or better marked, so that people in search of light in the hall didn't turn of the light for you while in bath |

Very good value for money, we were staying in a room with a private bathroom, it was truly good. One of the best hotels that I visited during my budget trip. Don't hesitate to go here, though it is a bit far away from the city centre, but there is a metro station "Lista" which is apx 6-10min by walk from the hotel. The hotel staff is very kind and they will assist you with everything. |

The Hostal Salamanca is located in a lovely quiet, slightly posh, neighbourhood of Madrid. It is made up of a bunch of converted apartments, with each bedroom being one room (with your own lock, of course), and you share bathrooms. The rooms were small, very basic, but very clean. It is fairly well located near two metro stations. There are a couple of small restaurants nearby. It was a little hard to find because the hostal is actually made up of a few apartments in a large apartment building. The whole building isn't the hostal, so the signage is not obvious. |

It is the worst hostal I have ever stayed in!!! The bathroom was very dirty. I called the hostal's reseption before booking. They told me that there was an aircondition in the room, but when I arrived I could not find any air condition, and the reseption admits they have lied!!! Stay away this horrible hostal!!! |

Peter & ? kindly changed our room to a more spacious room. I had money stolen on the Metro; Lola was extremely helpful in translating a statement for the police. We felt very happy and comfortable in Hostal Salamanca. |

The location of the hostel was excellent. Very very close to every point of interest and leisure. The reception staff was really helpful. They DO worry about everybody and do everything they can to have their guests happy. The room was very clean and quiet, despite it is in town centre. I think that the relation between price and quality is absolutely true. It´s worth it!!! Impossible to say something negative!!! I recommend this hostel for everyone interested in spending some funny days in Madrid. |

It was in a safe area of the city and I always felt safe coming back after a day of sightseeing. Our room smelt very bad of cigarette smoke and when we opened the window it smelt like fish so we really couldn't fix the smell. |

I liked the location of the hostal very much, it is located in the barrio of salamanca, which is adorable, and not even clearly as crowded as the center of the city. All the best shops right in the corner and relaxed athmosphere. I also liked very much of the hostel, nicely decorated, clean and cozy, would love to go there again. |

It's very clean and well situated, near the tube/subway and in a very nice neighborhood. It would be nice if it had kitchen appliances. |

This is a great place to stay if you're not interested in luxury, and if your budget is limited. I was able to stay for a whole week at the price of a couple of days at the cheapest hotel that had been recommended to me. The rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and there is free Wi-Fi internet access. Sound carries a little too well, so that it's easy to be kept awake by noises in the hall or in neighboring rooms. |

The hotel is situated very central located in a very good area close to Metro ; Lista. On the other side of the street is a very good breakfast place with friendly people and great coffee 'Sweet&Salty' The rooms are extremely noisy. You can hear your neighbours very clear and when they take a shower it is like the battle of Britain is coming over you. So you have to keep that in mind. Take earplugs with you! I slept bad three nights as of that! For the rest it is oke place to stay. |

This comfortable hostel is situated right in the centre and is well-connected to the public transport system. It is near the shops and the sites. |
Centrally located, this elegant, traditional-style hotel provides a great base to visit Madrid's many cultural sights. It lies on Gran Vía, between the main squares of España and Callao. |
Ayre Gran Hotel Colon is a design hotel, with wonderful stained glass and frescos by Manuel Ortega. It offers free Wi-Fi, and a peaceful setting 400 metres from Madrid’s Retiro Park. |
This bright, colourful guesthouse allows you to enjoy the lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere of Madrid. Start each day of sightseeing with breakfast in bed. |
