Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
The onsens were very nice, especially being right by the river. At night when no one was using them it felt incredibly peaceful. The food for breakfast and dinner was large and quite good. We were looking forward to them everyday. The rooms were cozy and just big enough.
Most friendly owner and staff. Best & beautiful food for both breakfast n dinner. Wonderful private spas: the Hydrogen spa by reservation only for 40 min each night of stay, with another 2 other spas available with no limits of use. As there are only 6 or 7 guest rooms, you can always find one available most time.
We appreciate the lovely deco and live flower arts all around the ryokan.
Of course there was the nice but short music performance at the end of dinner to compliment your stay.
The food was great as was the customer service: great traditional japanese dinner and breakfast. The baths were also warm and pretty as in the pictures. Whether you arrive at jomo kogen or minakami station, they provide a shuttle to get to the ryokan, which makes it easy to get there.
Very serene location in the mountains. No sounds but the river rushing by your window and the Onsen. The onsens were clean and well designed to find your desired temperature. Such a spectacular and zen experience!! Service was spectacular and the front desk was beyond helpful with sending our luggage back to Tokyo for us. Dinner and breakfast were traditional, delicious over the top. Everyone is so friendly!
The location was excellent - deep in the mountains of Gunma. I chose this onsen because I wanted to stay in a remote location off the beaten path. The ambiance of the inn is incredible, and the baths are exceptional. This inn felt like a functioning inn from the past - it is rustic, shows signs of wear, and was cold inside in winter due to lack of insulation. It felt like an authentic inn from the past. That said, these rustic qualities are not for everyone.
