Wonderful family run Auberge with beautiful comfy beds overlooking the forest. Lovely baths with gorgeous toiletries. A little out of town but a shuttle is offered for transportation. Fabulous dinner with a very unusual but delicious wine pairings. Breakfasts were delicious.

The room was comfortable and relaxing, with an undisturbed view of the mountains and surrounding areas that adds to the immersion. The public bathroom was clean and especially like the cypress bath. Dinner and breakfast were scrumptious, and the add-on wine tasting is just the cherry on top. The staff were friendly and goes the extra mile to understand the needs and wants of the guest.

Both our rooms were so relaxing and comfortable, we didn't want to leave! Everything was so clean and well organized, and every detail had been thought out. The breakfast was a huge hit with our kids, they really enjoyed all the different options. The restaurant on site was also great for dinner. But the best part? The onsen! Everyone in our family loved it! So relaxing, and just a wonderful treat - especially the outdoor baths. We also rented bikes from the hotel to tour around Takayama which our family enjoyed.

The location is out of town but they have a free car service to collect and drop off. The hotel is a great building. Breakfast is superb. Recommend getting the dinner. I had it two nights and there is some variety but a standard pattern - intro, risotto, pasta, meat, pudding. The Hida beef cheek was one of the best things I’ve eaten.

Our host was very kind and gracious throughout our stay, going the extra mile at every point such as driving us to the station early for our train. The guest house was well situated, right near the shrines and closeby to the old streets. It was generally comfortable but not overly stylish.

One of the best meals of our lives - truly excellent food and service. The magic show by the fire after dinner was a really nice touch.

Lovely property at the edge of town, with simple minimal design feeling like a home away from home. The owners were super welcoming and helpful, provide drives to and from the station and the dinner was just divine, one of the best meals we had in Japan! A very special wine tasting experience too - highly recommended overall!

In the beginning I was quite happy with my stay. The room is rather big for Japanese standards, you have a view over the city, the window opens at least a bit and the breakfast is pretty good. According to the description the two different onsen are changed between women and men per day. Actually it is the same each day and if you always go either in the morning or in the evening, you will see only one. This was a bit disappointing for me because I only go to the onsen in the evening.

Everything was perfect. Location is 5 min walk from Hirayu Onsen bus station which is super convenient if you’re planning on going to Kamikochi. Hotel also provides a shuttle bus service. Onsens were great, both the private ones and the one in your room. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. Views were absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend the half pension - dinner and breakfast were amazing! The resort also provides free Yakult, milk, ice creams and ramen. I cannot recommend this place enough.

We had chosen the room with private onsen with breakfast and dinner included. We were shown to our room by an Obasan (As our room was deep inside the ryokan towards the end!), and she explained everything about our room and the facilities available! Modern amenities with the rustic traditional ryokan, love it. We had an allocated private space to dine in at the restaurant, and the set course meal was really enjoyable! As we spoke little to none Japanese, the staff were thoroughly helpful and tried their best in explaining.
