Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya

Convenient location to reach from airport (direct train) and city (via Metro). Very good view from the top floors over the city. Service quality was good in the receiption and specials offered by the Spa were good value for money. Room size was enormous (Executive room) with two single beds combined for make a "king" bed.

Generally a noisy hotel. Tiles on the floor and in the corridors meant that noise carried. Do not assume that an executive room is on the uper floors (ours was not) and the street noise and train station carry through the lower floors, less than enjoyable. The premium for an executive floor is not worth the difference. Service in the restraurant was generally poor though food quality was acceptable.

The hotel was very near the train station and the facilities were excellent for relaxing after a long journey.

Found that the carpets were filthy, really stood out in an otherwise beautiful room. Also the directions were hard to find when it is simply directly across from the main station. Cannot believe that they charge for wi fi access in this day and age!

Large and clean room, large bathroom with separate wc and shower boxes. Free satellite channels. Excellent breakfast, with a lot - really dozens- of different choices, although not included and not cheap (euro 17,60). Near the train station, but also just 3 metro stops from the center of the city.

No pay-per-view on tv, expensive Internet connection (charged per hour).

Staff excellent. Location excellent. Mainline Railway and Metro just across road. Metro T-10 ticket great value for couples. Metro gets you everywhere and service is brilliant. Fab breakfast sets you up for the day. Business & recreation facilities are V.G. Room service food was good. Had 10 days in Barcelona so unlikely to visit again soon, but Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya would definitely be my first choice.

Visual restaurant was overpriced but food was excellent. Nouvelle cuisine style portions.

Did not like the place!!!

50 cents per minuit telephone. 10 euro for internet per day 6 euro for swiming pool. They tell you free internet but it is only for 15 minuits. They show the pool but forget to tell it will cost you. TV 10 years old and the remote does not work/ Servive was show. the hallways were kept hot to save money. The internets is all ways turing off on you while you are using it. No place for soap in bath room, it slides off the sloped sink. Water in fromt fountain is durty with junk in it, The do not run the fountain. the fron of the building siding is falling off.. The bed are as hard as a rock so they will last a long time so they save money.

We liked how the hotel was close to the train station.

The hotel cleaning staff consistently left the window of the room open, so we would come back to a hot and humid room.

Great staff, large rooms, large bathroom, very close to metro and train station (50m), great location, fantastic view, all was great.

excellent location, quiet, friendly helpful staff, security, availability of using roof top pool at next hotel , food excellent breakfast good value , view on top floor restaurant . Definitely stay again.

The hotel is very close to the one of the main train and metro station in Barcelona and so is very easy to reach most of the turistic atractions of this great city. We had booked an executive room and when we arrived, we were told there were no executive rooms available so we were upgraded to a junior suite for no extra charge! The room was huge and the view from the 20th floor was amasing - this should really be a five stars hotel!

Great views over the city from the 19th floor room. Helpful staff particularly in the bar lounge. Nearness to the station.

Noise from skateboarders outside on the concrete square near the station. The ponds outside the from doors were dirty and contained old newspapers etc. They were "cleaned" the day before we left but the dust and dirt were still left in the bottom before they were refilled!! It should be a daily job to keep them clean as it is the first thing visitors see.
