I left this to the last day, mistake really although the grounds and good weather was perfect for a walk. The rose garden was well presented and made for good pictures. The castle well expensive for what they have, here’s my observations the place was not well kept and given they have live parade, changing of the guards and all the pomp and circumstance of a royal venue, the place needs some tlc and quick. The history of the family and castle is laid out in a leaflet (although some errors in translation) served its purpose but the displays etc lacked a lot and the small venue or numerous rooms deserved no more than a fleeting visit. The vault had the ambiance of something special but again fell flat. I mentioned the live parade, I’m not sure this is a regular or daily thing, but it was interesting and a highlight of an otherwise dull place. It was my last day and I’d broke records on my ‘step count’ on the previous days, but I was looking forward to this place, I’ve certainly had more value for my £20 that Rosenberg Castle I’m afraid to say.

They say 45 minutes to tour this place.

They say 45 minutes to tour this place. It depends on how interested you are in historical places. If you don't care that much and just want to see the basic lay-out then 45 minutes is plenty. If you are interested in seeing some of the 100s of historical items then I'd say closer to 2 to 3 hours.

Beautiful visit, although you do have to wait at the queues.

Beautiful visit, although you do have to wait at the queues...lovely gardens and park surrounding the castle. Although some rooms were quite dark and it was difficult to aprehend all there was to see, once again, this visit gives you an insight on Danish royalty and its rich heirlooms and traditions. The Throne room was baroque and a stark contrast after having seen the Design Museum....and definitely what was amazing was the Tresor room with the Royal jewels and the treasures of objects in a diversity of materials. We enjoyed coming here and recommend the visit.

They limit how many people enter at a time & assign times to groups of people which allows for a more relaxed as well as interesting tour because you can really see things & take your time in the rooms that appeal to you. They offer an audio or internet (reading) tour. I would choose audio next time.

Can use an app on your phone to read about the rooms as you go through. Staff will give you the link and it is free once you buy admission. We bought the Amalienborg and Rosenberg combo ticket which did save us money an they are a short walk from each other. Nice for the day with great restaurants in between. The jewels are worth seeing as are the other collections. The grounds are beautiful as well. When you buy your ticket online, you can reserve an entry time at Rosenberg castle then you can walk right in at that time. No lineup.

    Wonderful fairy tale castle.

Wonderful fairy tale castle. Full to the brim with historic objects/furniture. Including 3 solid silver lions in the throne room Don't neglect the grounds/ garden. Not to far from a local food market too.
