Historical Architecture Hidden UndergroundDating back to the 1860s, Gloucester Road Tube Station is located around halfway down Gloucester Road, joining North and South Kensington. Served by the Circle, District and Piccadilly lines, the station has 2 main entrances – take a look up before you enter to see their historic façades. Down at platform level, there is also typical London Underground architecture to be seen: from original arches on the oldest lines, to the black-and-white tiled walls that curve around the Piccadilly line platforms. Just to the north is Cromwell Road, home to 3 of London’s best museums – the Natural History Museum, London Science Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum – as well as Baden-Powell House, a Scouting hostel and events venue. At the south end of Gloucester Road is Old Brompton Road, packed with lots of bars and restaurants, and leading to South Kensington Tube Station. Several embassies are located in this exclusive area, along with a large number of apartments and hotels near Gloucester Road Underground Station on Booking.com. ![]() |
