Get there early in the morning before the crowds descend on...
Get there early in the morning before the crowds descend on the temple. If going to Phayao, or if not, you must see Wat Huai Prasit Temple, on the main road halfway between Chiang Rai and Phayao. Its incredible and I cannot believe it is not on the tourist radar as to me it ranks equally with the White and Blue Temples.

Incredible - doesn't disappoint.
Incredible - doesn't disappoint. Visit when it opens to avoid huge crowds, or arrive before it opens/closes for photos without the hoards (you can see the temple from outside without paying the entrance fee if you prefer). I really enjoyed the exhibition/gallery outside the white temple (exit from main entrance, then it's just to your right) - beautiful painting and sculptures that detail the artist's journey to his signature style.
