This recently became a reservation based experience but the basic self guided walk through is still free. I didnt know exactly when we would be in the area and was glad to see they have a welcome area set up out front, so I didnt have to reserve our slot on my phone, and we got right in. There is a lot of history here and beautiful grounds, but it is way smaller than most people expect. It is still a must see.

If you actually want a picture of the Alamo or yourself with the Alamo, go early in the morning - it's deserted before 9am. Otherwise there will be crowds on crowds on crowds, especially in the summer.

Take your time at the Alamo.
Take your time at the Alamo. It's a special place for special reasons. Be sure to talk to the guides you see around. They are a mountain of information for the Alamo and for other places in San Antonio. I have to say the video had me shedding tears and the monument outside the front of the Alamo told the story. It's a beautiful place and I would love to return there one day.

If you don't mind not seeing the inside of the church, avoid the long line and enter through the open space in the walls just to the left of the church. It's easier to get a picture in front of the Alamo at night when it's more of a park for locals and the shrine has closed

We enjoyed the information regarding the Alamo, etc.
We enjoyed the information regarding the Alamo, etc. But was disappointed in the fact that they had taken out most of the artifacts for restoration. Understand, but still disappointed in not being able to see the pieces themselves.

It's on a less, busy more pleasant part of the River Walk, 12 minutes from the Alamo. The rooms are arranged elegantly in a historic building with some funky touches an orange Smeg fridges, brightly upholstered arm chairs, They have actual keys, not the generic sterility of some big hotel chains
The location on the riverwalk made it so easy to walk to The Pearl Brewery and back as a morning stroll. Easy walk to the Alamo and the Mercado. What I am saying is that this hotel is really well located. Parking was the least expensive of any of the hotel chains I looked at $23 a night (April 2024) Breakfast was fabulous!!
Beautiful hotel less than 5 minute walk to the Alamo, and 8 minutes from the Riverwalk! Small but cozy rooms with very comfortable beds. Amanda at the front desk made my family feel so welcome from the moment we walked in the beautiful lobby! Amanda really impressed us with her kindness and attitude throughout our entire stay!! We were so happy we found this wonderful hotel in such a perfect location. Highly recommended for visitors that want to explore San Antonio!!
We arrived early and the staff was able to get us checked in earlier than expected. The hotel was clean and the house keeping staff was friendly. The location of the hotel was nice, close to shops and restaurants and about a half mile to the Alamo.
The location is perfect. My kids and I parked our car right by the hotel and were walking distance from the Alamo and much more. We walked everywhere and it was amazingly fun.
Staff was wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful, from check in to check out. Rooms are very clean and extremely comfortable, seem more like a bedroom than a hotel room.
We were able to walk to all destinations, The Alamo was right out the door, the River Walk is just around the corner.
It felt very safe walking around downtown with plenty of officers visible on the streets.
I was upgraded, without even asking, to a beautiful room overlooking the Alamo. The location was excellent, just a short walk to the Riverwalk and the Christmas market was right outside the hotel!
The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was there for a show at the Alamodome -- VERY convenient location. As a solo traveler I felt safe walking to and from there. Once the bar in the hotel is open, you have to have a room key to access the accommodations past the lobby which I appreciated. They have a very cute cafe area to grab a snack or work in. Easy check in and check out. Would stay here again!
The inside of the hotel had a cafe and restaurant. It was also a really awesome design preservation of history has been great. Also an ideal location if interested in seeing The Alamo and the San Antonio Riverwalk.
