Pelayo

Location of hotel was great, near to Universitat station and airport bus stop.Staff were friendly and helpful.Triple room was spacious enough.Breakfast was light with cookies/pastries but enough for us with free flow of coffee from the machine.We are happy staying here and would recommend this hotel.

There were no hooks on the bathroom door to hang our clothes.I wanted to pay by cash the moment we check-in but the hotel staff had charged my card and unable to cancel it the same time, and only cancelled the charge the following day, resulting in a loss in exchange difference from the refund. It would help if the staff that afternoon could just void the charge and accept the cash, rather than tell me I have to wait the next morning to do it.

I had not only all the facilities the hotel promises but a place for my papers and computer, convenient enough to work hours. Though WiFi was promised only in the hall, I could use Internet in my room.

Location, rate

Very thin walls, too thin I would say. I was given a room near the reception in the corridor, so I haven't seen the rest of the hotel. It was difficult to sleep as it was too noisy! Breakfast is in the corridor, you just take a cup of coffee in a plastic cup and a muffin and go to your room with all this. Good that at least you can take some more muffins if you want. :)

The staff were quite helpful, and the location was excellent. We were a long block from La Rambla, which is the key place in Barcelona, and a pleasant walk from a Gaudi designed house. The bed was comfortable, desk staff English was good. Free breakfast was coffee and a piece of cake or cookie - no cereal or milk.

It's hard to find. You enter a corridor go up a flight of stairs to an elevator, up 1 floor in it, to a solid wood door with minimal signage. I saw one party find it, but leave beause they couldn't figure out how to open the door to the lobby. The rooms were small, there were no washcloths, and no stopper for the bathtub. The wi-fi was intermittant, but free. Public (fee) wi-fi worked well at 10 Euro for 48 hours.

Pelayo is like a big a apartment in a wonderful zone of Barcelona. Perfect if you are alone...

Rooms are really small, but they have all you need for that price.

Very close to the central city place, accurate personnel

The staff were so friendly and caring. The rooms are comfortable and the bath is fairly large for this category of hotel. The location is fantastic. A very small continental breakfast is available (coffee machine/packaged sweets biscuits/buns) enough to get your through to lunch.

Must take a few steps to elevator might be a challenge for those with wheelchair, I use cane and was easy.

Well for starters we didn't stay at the Pelayo, once we got there we were switched to their sister hotel the Aneto. The staff at Pelayo arranged and paid for our transfer to the alternative. If this does happen with you, do not be afraid. The Aneto whilst basic, has an excellent location. the room was comfortable, clean and serviced daily. So I would recommend staying with these hotel owners.

Walls were a bit thin, so a little noisy.

Hotel staff can speak English, the location is good and very easy to find.

I liked everything at the Pelayo. The staff were first class and very friendly and helpful. I am a world traveller on business staying at the best on expenses but this was for my own account and was absolutely perfect. Although the room was not large it was very clean as was the bathroom. Value for money you cannot beat. The breakfast was hot drinks and croissants (plenty) sufficient and enough.

Inside noise, there is a possibility to add inside door and it may help, 20 stairs to the elevator, but it is compensated with very centered location

Great location, everything in the walking distance. Good standards for a one star hotel, quiet, clean and nice room, air-condition, tv. Good value for money.

The reception staff could be more informed about some events in the city etc.

Good location, right in the center of the city near Plaza de Catalunya; good personnel, ready to help (I left my luggage for some hours after the leaving)

Very small room, it is harly possible to move, especially in the bath- room
