We had a beautiful corner room with windows on two sides and a wrap around balcony with table and chairs. Lovely view! It was impeccably clean and a comfortable size. Appreciated in room coffee/tea and fridge. Breakfast was lovely—juices, coffee, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, meats, cheeses, toast, croissants/pastries, melon, fresh fruit, etc. Loved every minute of our stay.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon here. So, everything I say about Hotel Castillio El Loco and surrounding area may be rose tinted just a little... It is fair to say we had one of the best weeks of our lives here with a sea view from our room that was simply breath taking! The staff were amazing friendly and efficient. The rooms were spotless and well attended. The terrace bar and restaurant are very popular with the locals which in itself is a great recommendation. Its a quirky fun relaxed place. Great for couples in our opinion.. You will over look a wonderful bay and beach on one side and Suances beaches and marina on the other. You are not far from Santander and there are lots of beautiful places to visit but, why bother...

This is a beautiful town on the Cantabrian coast.
This is a beautiful town on the Cantabrian coast. It is only 40minutes from Santander so a great place for a mini break. The beach is amazing and so clean. It is raked and cleaned every day. The town itself is beautiful and the Spanish here are so friendly and helpful. A phrase book is useful if you don't speak the language but most restaurants have English versions of their menus - but you have to ask. The food is a mixture of Tapas and set meals - no English food like they do in the Costas which in my opinion is a bonus. We are in Spain after all. And that's what Comillas is all about- Real Spain. Look out for the Gaudi house in the town. It is well worth a visit, very beautiful. The town itself is pretty and quaint - but full of life in the summer months. This area of Spain can get very cold out of season though, but it's still beautiful with snow on the surrounding mountains. A gem worth a visit or for a superb chill out beach holiday.

Lovely area, especially the Picos de Europa. Somewhat difficult transit to other seaside villages along the Cantabria coast. Early fall or early spring would be an ideal time to visit. Maybe we tried things a little late, but had no adverse weather. Didn't try water-based activities, but they should be really good at the times mentioned above. Midsummer would be heavy with tourists, but more restaurants and hotels would be open.

A great city, with a great variety of activities. You can go to the beach, concerts , museums, there are plenty of options for nightlife. The food is amazing in every place I ate. I recommend to visit: el Faro Cabo Mayor, el palacio de la Magdalena, take a walk through El sardinero beach, visit centro Botin and its art expos. For nightlife you got many options, depending on the kind of plans you like. walking through Paseo pereda and having there Tapas, ice cream, coffee... is a must. The views are incredible, the city has a mix of elegance, sea culture, natural beauty and traditions. Also there are many shops and boutiques. and if you have car, there are a bunch of activities, places and adventures, you can live while you are in Cantabria.( La virgen del mar beach, Santillana del mar, Altamira, Comillas, san Vicente de la Barquera, Lastres, Las cuevas del Soplao, many Eco-sports and activities... ) I definitely recommend this city.

The views were amazing, specially the sunset which you could enjoy with a good glass of wine from the hotel bar. The hosts Eduardo and Silvia were awesome, always happy to help and recommend new places to visit, eat, etc. They will treat you like family. I also would highly recommend the activities they have at the hotel such as yoga, surf or paddle surf. Overall it has been an amazing week and we were able to get to know not only main Cantabria highlights but also Ajo surroundings, which were a truly discovery! We cannot wait to come back!

The hotel in very modern and came as a complete surprise within a residential area comprising expensive properties forming a village on the coastal cliff-tops of Cantabria about 40 miles from Santander. The village is only a few kilometres from the Oviedo-Santander motorway but the road is very tortuous. The hotel has secure underground parking and a good restaurant serving an excellent breakfast. It is only a short walk to the beach and cliffs.
