Set in a 19th-century building, The Sands Hotel, Orkney is situated along the shore of Scapa Flow in Burray village. It has a bar, a restaurant and beautiful sea views. The staff was wonderful. They were welcoming, gracious and extra-accommodating. We arrived later than the restaurant was open, but they were willing to stay open and serve us from the Bar Menu (which was delilcious). The entire stay was delightful.

Situated on the Orkney Island, 14 miles from Kirkwall, Smithfield Hotel offers 3-star accommodation with free parking, a bar, and a restaurant. Kirkwall airport is 30 minutes’ drive away. A wonderful place to stay as long as you don't mind driving. It was semi centrally located to most sites you may want to visit while in Orkney. The staff was excellent and extremely helpful. Breakfast was delicious and prepared to order. The restaurant offered a nice variety of meals for dinner as well as beer, wine, and cocktails. The tv room/lounge was always available if you wanted somewhere to unwind. The staff was also kind enough to allow me to stay there a couple of hours after checkout while awaiting my ferry. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Stromness Hotel is set in Stromness. This hotel offers free WiFi. Ring of Brogdar is 6 km away and Standing Stones of Stenness is 6 km from the hotel. All rooms in the hotel are fitted with a TV. Location! If you are heading to the mainland from the Orkneys, this hotel is 2 minutes from the Ferry docks. Food was amazing, the dinning room was cozy and the help was courteous and very nice.

West End Guest House is set in Kirkwall, 1.2 km from Highland Park Distillery. Free private parking is available onsite. Certain rooms feature a seating area for your convenience. We were very comfortable, and the staff made us feel at home. They went out of their way to ensure we had all the information on the sites to see. The breakfast was fabulous. We stayed 4 nights and would highly recommend this place.
