Johor: Malaysia's Gateway State

Johor, a Malaysian state and continental Asia’s southernmost point, is often referred to as the southern gateway to its more illustrious powerhouse across the Johor Strait – economic giant Singapore. Used mainly as a transit point, there are some hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Malaysia’s 2nd largest city is vibrant Johor Bahru, also known as JB. Apart from being a processing point for the large numbers of tourists via the Johor-Singapore Causeway, it is also an important industrial and commercial centre and enjoys a lively nightlife scene.

The story gets far more interesting in places like the Endau Rompin National Park where jungle trekking is popular. Indigenous tribes, endangered species and some of Malaysia’s most wonderful waterfalls are part of one of the world’s oldest rainforest regions.
