The location was good, being close enough to major routes but still 'off the beaten track'. The hotel was large & the Tudor part impressive but welcoming too. The double room was huge, spotlessly clean with a large jacuzzi bath (an unexpected surprise!). The breakfast buffet was good value. Would highly recommend.

The hotel room doors banged shut - a soft closer would be better especially at night when other residents' door banging could be disruptive. A small issue only though.

Recreational facilities, pool rasa was a nice chill out after a hard days graft!

Noise from bar area, but subsided around 11 so not an issue

If its just a place to sleep, no comforts or thrills it would pass.

What appears from the photo to be a charming building is not actually where you stay. The place where the rooms are is a very dull, square building. The room itself was okay, but the furnishings were very old fashioned (not a Downton Abbeyesque old fashioned, just a worn out kind of old fashioned). The particular issue we had with the room was the TV. It was a grey block of a TV more at home in a second hand electrics store form the 90's than a hotel in 2014. We had brought along a blu-ray player to relax and watch movies later on in the evening but this relic of a TV obviously had no HDMi cable. Also the tea and coffee making facilities (which are the foundation of any great hotel) were pretty pathetic.

Friendly, helpful staff. Has everything needed for a couple of nights when working. Breakfast is quite good, the staff particularly helpful and friendly. Excellent value. Superior to other 'budget hotels' in the area.

Wi-fi a bit hit-and-miss in most rooms, tv has the main channels and a few freeviews...the decor is not what it once was...however, if you need all those extras, I recommend you spend 4 or 5 times more at a non-budget hotel.

Reception staff were helpful

The restaurant and bar staff were the worst I have ever come across, the ignored me and when I asked what the hunters chicken was they didn't know and they had a good old joke about it between themselves. Also the gut behind the bar was so rude saying that he didn't understand me and could I speak clearer and louder!! I'm from Kent so I don't have a language barrier and neither did he. When the food did come it was stone cold and we'll over cooked.

As you walk in to the hotel it feels like a very swanky hotel from central London, stunning place! Good deal on carvery for the evening and breakfast was also very good. I had asmoking room (a rare thing now a days), which was a little dated with a TV that was as deep as it was wide (LCD would of been a better idea than an old CRT), but I do believe that the smoking rooms are not as up to date as the rest of the rooms. Over all though a great stay!

Good value, clean, cheap and good location. You get what you pay for at £35.

Tired bathroom and general fittings.
