bathroom was huge
No honey for breakfast
no means of telling the time unless you put the tv on
Stayed there 5th nov. Rooms are clean but ours had mould/damp on wall. The week before when we stayed there the taps were wrong way round & I nearly scolded myself( cold was actually hot!!).
On the morning of the 6th we went down for breakfast which was included in our booking. The lady in restaurant said we were booked in for continental so we upgraded to full english( does that mean you get both?????). Anyway,, ordered breakfast off the menu. You could have beans & TINNED tomatoes with it. I chose tinned tomatoes because I prefer them( you could have both. On arrival my plate had a grilled tomato on it & no tinned!! I hate grilled tomato. I mentioned that it stated tinned on the menu & basically the woman didn't care. No apology of explanation..
The Middle Aged lady just walked off into kitchen!!
After eating breakfast my partner was leaving the restaurant to go outside for a cigarette whilst I went to the continental bar to chose a yoghurt for dessert. I then went & sat back down alone!
There was a oldish guy dining ( grey hair, pink shirt). It seemed that he worked there because he went behind the scenes a couple of times.
As soon as I sat to eat my yoghurt ( alone), he went into the kitchen to where that lady waitress was!! She dashed out rather quickly, & spun in both directions where my partner had gone & where I was ?????? I don't have the foggiest why????.
I was annoyed & started to feel uncomfortable in there! She began walking over to me so I looked straight at her and said " everything alright", . Her reply was " I'll just clear these plates for you." She took just 2 plates & went back into the kitchen & I never saw the misery again!! There was 2 other tables where guests had left that needed clearing & she left them 2. I was obvious they ( her & the man) were watching us as though we were upto sonething.
Location is very good. Only a walking distance from the train station. And also the city centre is just nearby. The only downside is my room is overlooking the main highway which is a bit noisy. Otherwise excellent location.
A bit noisy as overlooking the motorway.
I stay quite often as it is convenient, really nice staff
The staff was friendly and close to the center
The bed room was old and the beds wornt the best for the price
The staff were lovely and the rooms very clean. Rooms were spacious.
General look of the rooms I saw was shabby but not chic. Asked for a better room- 1st one had a cracked basin and was generally run-down. 2nd (4 poster room) had no heat and no working extractor fan. In need of a refurb. Shame as it was chic in the 80's.
No problems with car parking!
Although the room looked a bit "tired", it was actually very clean indeed!!
When my breakfast arrived, it was clearly cooked to order, and was served hot, which is more than a lot of hotels seem to be capable of!!
Would I stay again? A big fat yes!!!
Room looked a bit "tired".
I rated the staff as good. I would have rated them excellent if the breakfast front-of-house staff had been a bit more "on the ball" - they were rather slow in taking my order.
The staff were friendly, even charming. They catered well for our dietary needs. The room was comfortable and pleasantly furnished. The food and especially the continental breakfast was excellent.
The hotel can be seen to be making improvements.
The bed was uncomfortable, very springy. Also on booking the stay it was advertised for a full breakfast and also leisure facilities which were closed and only a continual breakfast was included
