The young man who was managing the hotel was friendly. So very very many issues which were totally unacceptable. Feel this hotel was completely represented on your website. A list probably best illustrates its shortcomings: 1. Shabby exterior 2. Shabby interior 3. Dining/bar area tired looking & smelly. Electrics not working properly so completely dark at regular intervals during evening 4. Room with bed butted right up to sash opening window. Could actually fall out of window down to car park below. 5. Window HAD to remain open due to radiator being full on during soaring temperatures. Uncomfortably hot. 6. Bedding shabby. 7. Sink with no plug & filthy dirty plug hole. 8. Different taps with hot & cold the wrong way round. 9. Carpet shabby, dirty, lumpy, ill fitted. 10. Water stained wallpaper peeling & patched with ill matching replacements. 11. Ceiling paper severely stained & seriously falling down. 12. Bedside lamp with NO suitable plug socket. 13. Filthy lampshades with bugs languishing. 14. Rickety bed with no headboard & poor quality bedding plus pillows. 15. Shared bathroom which can only be described as the worst EVER to be encountered! Mildew, mould, staining, peeling damp walls, shower held up by plastic ties, wholly inadequate bathroom flooring with shabby unclean bath mat, stained toilet & bad lighting. Completely & totally appalling! 16. Floorboards throughout which made SO much noise due to age, lack of repair & general neglect. 17. Staining to landing ceiling of huge proportions. Evident of leakage on a big scale. 18. Hotel as a whole is not fit for purpose. 19. Huge health & safety issues. 20. Would like a refund at the very least. |

It was set in a quiet part of the country, and when my first room was too hot, the lady behind the bar was very pleasant and changed me to a different room. This has to be one of the worst 'hotels' that you could possibly stay in. I only paid £20 and so my expectations were very low, as I wanted just somewhere clean and comfortable to rest my head. The bedroom itself was almost adequate, though there were sweet wrappers under the beds (one double, one single). There was only one plug socket in the room and so if you wanted the lamp on, you couldn't charge a phone/laptop etc. I was put on the second floor (presumably as it was a Saturday night and thus avoiding the noise of the pub) but the 'Free WiFi' didn't exist as the signal was so weak that it after 5 minutes trying to load a web-page I gave up. (Note - I tried around five different times, including 7am on the Sunday when I woke - still signal was too weak to bother with WiFi). The pub clearly had a stag party or something staying as I was kept awake in the early hours, and at 10pm I was an unwitting spectator of a Mini-Riot in the square outside the pub. The next day over breakfast in a wonderful cafe across the road, I found out that this wasn't a 'one-off' occurrence and that often fights happen as there is 'nothing better to do in the village'. Trumping all of this has to be the bathroom though. Disgusting! The only word for it. Visible mould, peeling wallpaper, a shower held up by a blue poly bag and string and if I hadn't been walking the previous day and felt sweaty, I would have avoided the shower like the plague. For twenty quid I expected clean, comfortable basics. What I got was a night where I was very close to just leaving and going to sleep in my car. And I am deadly serious about that! If you are on a stag do and want something that doesn't matter what state it is left in, then this is the accommodation for you. If you want anything else, then avoid this 'hotel' at all costs. |

Where it was. Did not like any of it I ask for a room nearest to the door due to partner not having to walk far we got a room right at the top as far as poss. I ask for more towels didn't get them there was stuff like bits of paint in my bed the floors were making so much noise I didn't feel safe. The bathroom was full of mould water on the floor and the windows were normal ones not frosted. The bath was all stained the shower head was held up by wire. And parking was discussing. |
