Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumI understand it's a mountain village so comfort is not high on the priority list, but multiple items in the room were not functional or broken. Perhaps because I was there end of season, luckily they have a full winter to make some reparations. :) Slightly on the expensive side for Albania and even for Theth, but I think this would be justified in summer when you can use the outside area.
Great location in Theth: fairly easy to reach (only last part is gravel, just make sure to stay on the asphalt until you reach the bridge closest to the guesthouse) and great starting point for majority of hikes. Friendly staff!

Amazingly beautiful location and building. Comfy beds. Nice and convenient restaurant on site. Breakfast buffet was really nice 😊 they provide a welcome drink at check in as well! Make sure to book your seat on the bus back to Shkoder with the reception as soon as you check in, I saw many people think they could just head to the bus station and try to get a ride but there were not more spots left so they were left behind. The bus comes to the hotel around 10:00 to pick you up so it’s very convenient.

PolandI rode there by motorbike in the rain and night for hundreds of kilometers. When I stepped into the Shpella I was welcomed with rakija and hot meal. One of the kind place. Unique. I felt like I was in quentin tarantino movie there. Met amazing people and enjoyed every bit of it. I need to come back there one day.

FranceMy room was very basic. Maybe needs abit of renovation but I would still return here!
I visited in the off season and I loved it but I can see in the summer this is the place to be! Huge area outside for relaxing/ eating/ drinking. A beer shed, fire pit, hammocks :) The staff were on hand my whole stay but they do have a self serve system at the bar which I think is amazing. Breakfast was great & I had dinner 4 nights In a row - for a very good price. After staying in one other guest house here I'd definitely come back to Shpella, the communal area is more welcoming and the location and scenery are just the best.

GreeceThe guesthouse was well signposted in the town so easy to find. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and let us check in early. Room was basic but comfortable for three adults in a room, with nice hot showers. The dinner was AMAZING, fresh, delicious and all cooked in front of the fire was super cosy. Breakfast spread was sizeable as well. Great stop before setting off for the hike!

United KingdomThe only thing maybe that there was one bathroom for a lot of people and it's tiny. I guess because of the age of the building.
The location is perfect, beautiful views all around. The breakfast is tasty and plenty. The restaurant serves nice food all day. Welcoming staff.

NetherlandsThey have less space inside of the guesthouse, therefore most of the guest need to sit outside for diner and breakfast. With lover temperatures in the evening isn't that a nice thing, you get very cold.
We loved our stay out Shpella Guesthouse, it's a beautiful place with a traditional look and feel. Our room was very comfortable and has a good temperature. The food exceeded our expectations, it was really good.

BelgiumBathroom is very small. Would have appreciated it if the waiter in the restaurant is more friendly.
The friendly owner welcomes you with a raki shot. The dormitory has 4 beds and is very nice (no bunk beds). Water in the shower is hot. Breakfast is included, is a buffet and very very good, definitely enough to have energy before starting the hike. You can order lunch & dinner in their restaurant.
