Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicThe inside door handle on the bathroom door came off, which could have trapped my husband or myself inside if we hadn't noticed it was loose and checked if it still opened (it didn't) so we had to be careful not to close it when alone in the room. The man at the front desk simply said he couldn't do anything about it. Most of the light bulbs in the room had burned out - only one of the two bedside lamps, and the bathroom light were working. The main room light, desk light, and second bedside lamp didn't work. There was an unmarked switch next to the door which turned the power on and off - so we went without power until we found it by accident. It would be great if this switch was marked somehow or mentioned in the hotel information folder.
Breakfast was lovely. The bed was comfortable, and the room looked nice.

United KingdomUnfortunately it was part way through a renovation so it was much different to what it looked like in pictures when I had originally booked. I’m not sure if my room had been finished with the renovations or not as there was no shower door or curtain (or even a rail for a curtain), some of the electrical switches in the room were unfinished, and there were dirty footprints throughout the bathroom and shower and dust over the floor (presumably from workers). I was in a single room and for my first night was given a very large duvet for a double bed but a cover for it that was for a single bed (my room had a single bed) so the duvet didn’t fit in the cover. The next night it was changed thankfully. The central heating was too warm most nights and there wasn’t a remote for the air conditioner to turn on the fan. The lighting in the room, especially the bathroom, was very dull.
The location was good as it was in a quiet area outside the main hustle and bustle of the city, but nearby tram stops and two different underground train lines so access into the city centre and to major attractions as well as connecting to airport trains or the international bus station was easy. It was possible to walk into the city centre too. I stayed for five nights and enjoyed the variety of warm breakfast options as they changed each day.

AustraliaBathroom was a bit worn and a bit unclean (bit of mould on the roof, rusting rails, chipped sink). The room is quite dim, with the only lights being small lamps.
Spacious room. Not a far walk into the city centre. Located right next to underground and tram stop.

United StatesSort of a strange set up to reach my room. I had to go up one set of stairs, and then down another set of stairs because the room, I guess, is sort of a different, the attached, building. I did not have to go outside.
Very comfortable room. Nice bathroom and shower. There is a very nice breakfast area that serve kosher food which was very convenient for me.

United KingdomWe arrived at the hotel to find that workmen were replacing the flooring outside our room. The noise from the circular saw was awful. We asked to move our room which they did to a basement room. This was fine. We believe that we should have been told beforehand about the ongoing renovations. The staff did their absolute best for us.
The staff at the hotel were excellent. The position of the hotel was ideal for exploring Vienna

Romania1. Breakfast - KOSHER type. Expect NO meat. So, if anybody don't know: Kosher means that milk and eggs do not stand in the same room with meat. For Hotel Admin - if you see that 90% of the clients are European - make a normal breakfast!!! 2. Room location - up on stairs and than down on stairs. Strange. Almost like in a horror movie. 3. Cleanliness - just the towels changed.
Location - Super, metro nearby, tram just 50 m. Train station - 15 minutes slow walk. Room - decent Staff - decent

ItalyThe structure is a bit old. My room did not have air conditioning, but a fan, and the lighting was not the best. I did not like the breakfast: little choice and mediocre quality.
The hotel is well located, just a 5-minute walk from the Praterstern station where the train to the airport leaves. There is also a U-Bahn station a few meters away. Overall, it offers good value for money.
