How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The bathroom was a bit small, and the shower didn't drain properly.
The location was super convenient which made getting around a breeze. The room was cozy and clean, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming, even when we arrived late they made it super easy for us to check-in. If you're coming by train it is really close by.

No signs of staff as reception closed when passing through. Reception has limited hours. Some noise from trains passing.
Location close to station and city centre. Pollution free trolleybus runs past hotel. Very clean and well presented. Would use again.

There was no lift and we were on the 4th floor and we had heavy luggage
The room was big and comfy..staff was very friendly and it was located close to the centre. Nice cafe for breakfast next door

2 towels, 2 tiny soaps, no hand towel, The steps were brutal. Would never climb those again. Difficult to lift luggage. Snow was high, so we drug our luggage through the snow. NO area was shoveled to.pull luggage up curb.
Clean, bedding was comfy.

I had pre arranged a first floor room as my friend has difficulty climbing stairs. There is no lift and I received a reply stating a room would be available for us and when we got there it was on the top floor. No other rooms available so had to struggle with it.
Location very good and hotel was adequate for our needs

everything is honestly a bit shabby and not fully working. Like the lamp will be buzzing or waten in a shower won't drain easily.
location is just perfect! stuff is very friendly and super nice. Option to leave your luggage before or after your stay is also great! the room was very clean!

Traffic on the main road most of the night. I suppose we could have had a non road facing room.
Breakfast place up the road was still closed. We wanted to get away earlier than 9am.

Excellent location and great option for a person or couple travelling. The exchange with the staff was great with clear instructions and the room was very confortable and clean. Definitely an otion to consider for my next stay in Salzburg ;-)

The room towards the street is quite noisy and the shades are not really darkening the room, so bring earplugs and something to cover the eyes if you need to. No chair in such a big room is a pity, there is other furniture but no chair or desk. the water in the shower did not go down as it should, so only a short shower was possible, which is fine for me.
Centrally located hotel, very easy communication with staff, key ready in box, so check-in possible anytime. Quite a big room for the price Price/quality is quite good for Salzburg. It is made clear at the hotel's site that it is a room in the city and that's it. And this is also what you get. All you need but not more. Well, the room is much bigger than needed, so there is more.

NO ELEVATOR. Up 4 flights of stairs with a bag is no picnic!
Great location, can walk to most everything. Really helpful staff, but only there in the morning. Big and comfortable room, very nice bathroom.

the washroom was tiny and with very little paper on roll. The hotel is old and the sound travels well and loudly, so we could hear neighbors' and doors banging often.
The room was big with beautiful windows and furniture. The beds were comfortable. It was easy to get the keys from the lockbox and we were able to find street parking close by. It was easy to walk around town and get to the scenic river sides on a peaceful stroll.
