The staff are amazing, Its owner operated and it has all the right personal touches one would expect from an amazing hotel like this. It really gave us the 'Grand budapest' vibes and we felt really special. It's perfect for a special ski holiday with your partner

No problem for us now in September but there is no air conditioning, so a fan in the room could be nice. But that's a very minor remark. The hotel is fantastic!

We were super impressed by our stay ! The staff were very kind and helpful. We received recommendations for a scenic nearby hike and the hotel offers a discount for the thermal spa in the center, which was super nice! We also were picked up directly from the train station. Additionally, the room was comfortable and clean, and the whole hotel gets you into a classy, antique feeling! It made our trip :)

Villa Excelsior is an elegant, historic villa with a great view over the Gastein Valley. Staff are dedicated professionals, starting with Herr Christof and Frau Erharter, wellcoming and smiling hosts. Chef Johanna is a master of the kitchen. It's like they have a mission: your comfort and welfare. We took massage and sauna at the villa, but you can also have your Felsentherme tickets with 25% discount at the Reception Desk. We had a wonderful time!

Villa Excelsior exceeded our expectations with its unique atmosphere and unusually friendly and polite staff. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, the room was quiet with a great view over the valley. Nearby Kaiser Wilhelm promenade with cafees and art galleries. We even got an early breakfast and tranportation to trainstation before 08 a.m.

The old beds creaked when you turned while sleeping. We woke up to it sometimes.

An old, beautiful building. The hotel is original and I have never visited one like it before. This visit was an experience in itself and will surely surprise you. I recommend to try.

I would love for the room to have one mattress on the bed instead of two on the dubblebed so there is no gap in the middle.

The personal service was exceptional. We felt realy cared for and you can tell the owner loves his place and what he does. And the wiew from our room was magical.

The wi-fi could be better.

Stay at Villa Excelsior allows you to experience the atmosphere of a mountain resort from belle epoque with all modern comforts (three different saunas, outdoor pool, newly renovated bathrooms). Christof, the owner, and his staff and family are friendly and helpful, breakfasts are amazing. We loved how much attention is paid to little details, like engraved coffee pots and beautiful wooden furniture.

Beautiful hotel, exceptionally personal and friendly service, excellent food. The dinner menus are a fantastic deal. Historic building and a very traditional atmosphere without being stuffy. Very nice amenities too - pool, garden, sauna, therapeutic baths. Good location on the promenade and just a short walk into the center of town.

The hotel is hundred years old like many properties in Bad Gastein, and the furniture, deco and floors of course also need renovation. The outside rollos on the windows seemed to be broken and the curtains were to narrow to cover the whole window.. Breakfast had to be ordered in advance, by selecting food from the list - a bit difficult to do this in the evening when you don't know how many pieces of bread or ham you might want in the morning, buffet would be better.

Very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff! The hotel with a character and history! The swimming pool was a bonus, and we really enjoyed relaxing there after hiking. I liked the location high above Bad Gastein, a bit away from the noise and with easy walk to town centre and directly on the walking path. Beautiful panorama views from the window. Free of charge parking. Comfortable bed.
