Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Perfect idyllic setting, immersed in nature. James and Ali are such wonderful hosts, and we even saw the same cassowary every morning coming for a visit. The cottage is very comfortable and lovely, and no mosquitoes for some reason, couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

AustraliaThe bedroom doesn't have airconditioning. We spent most of our time outside would be great if there was a day bed to share and some outdoor sun lounge chairs were available.
Loved the location, views, private creek & waterfalls at your door step and the fact the place generates it's own power via hydro electricity.

AustraliaEverything was great! Thanks James and Ali
The location is so beautiful and peaceful....we didn't want to leave! The cottage is very private, clean and comfortable. The property is completely off grid, utilising hydro electricity which is reliable and produces plenty of power for the property, while being environmentally friendly. The most amazing part is the private swimming hole just metres away from your door, with a view of the waterfall and the sounds of the rainforest all around you. We were lucky enough to have a small turtle sharing the swimming hole with us the first day we were there :)

United KingdomNothing really ., although difficult to dry clothes when we were there but what do you expect it’s a rainforest Also , very disappointed not to see the animals mentioned in the handbook , they were being shy … but very glad it was true there were no crocs in the swimming hole , I think it was said ‘oh no we NEVER get crocs in there….😱
Beautiful location in rainforest , quite magical next to swimming hole , the cabin itself was really nicely done, good kitchen equipment , nice bathroom, fabulous bed . No wifi- probably a good thing !! We played scrabble twice which was great esp as I won !

AustraliaDaintree Cascades is a very special place - we stayed in the cottage and had access to our own crystal clear cascades and swimming hole surrounded by luxuriant rainforest. The cottage is very comfortable, provides everything you need for a self-catering stay and is close to everywhere you'd want to go in the Daintree/Cape Tribulation area. It's very close to Thornton Beach which is wonderful for a long walk and has a great cafe. There is no internet or phone reception and this was a plus for us, four nights of digital detox was just what we needed - total relaxation. Seeing a Cassowary and chick nearby was also a plus. I'd also recommend Cooper Creek Wilderness Tours for a wonderful walking tour through world heritage rainforest.

AustraliaNot much! A tea towel and oven gloves for the kitchen weren't supplied. Maybe tea lights and incense sticks for the outside setting would be a nice touch.
The location of the cottage was exceptional. Very secluded setting, surrounded by pristine rainforest. The self-contained cottage was very clean, cooking facilities were good. There were two outdoor settings to enjoy the private cascading stream and waterhole. The relaxing sound of running water was a highlight of our stay.

The whole place itself. Cottage is self-contained and everything was so beautifully presented. We enjoyed ourselves in the prestine views of the rainforest, with a private natural pool and to the sound of water flowing down the creek. Wouldn't have asked for more

AustraliaThe bed head could do with a dusting/clean and the mattress is a bit too soft-poor lumbar support. One towel rail needs fixing. A little coffee machine would have been lovely. But these things didn't detract significantly.
Great private setting in the rain forest adjacent to the creek and cascades. A dip in the swimming hole was very refreshing after a day exploring the Daintree. The early morning dip in the swimming hole shared with the resident gecko, who didn't mind being photographed, fish and birds was just as good. The off-grid cottage is great for a tranquil 2 night stay for a couple wanting to get away from phone and internet. The location is great for exploring Cape Tribulation and the Daintree region. Sadly, we didn't see a live crock. Well worth a visit. Coffee and lunch at the cafe on beautiful Thornton Beach, 3 kms drive, is also not to be missed.
