Carport to front door isn’t completely covered for protection from the rain. Strahan can have wild weather and loud winds, being an older building if you’re a light sleeper pack earplugs :)

We stayed in cottage SARAH. It is shabby on the outside, clearly being restored, but clean and fresh inside. There is plenty of room. A full kitchen and laundry, new appliances and everything you need to make a meal, even an old barbecue outside. There was plenty of heating and hot water. It would be perfect for a family with young kids. The front lawn was full of bunnies and amusing lapwings. It’s located on the road to the golf course. Very quiet area but only a two minute drive to the Strahan waterfront.

The fact that the front door was not accessible to go onto the verandah. A little gardening was required there. Blackberries overgrown verandah. This house has great potential and a great vibe but is in dire need of a few repairs.

I loved the large area of the house and its retro feel. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and pots and pans. The kitchen was extremely roomy. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great Although the hot water ran out after the second not so long shower. So zi boiled the kettle to wash the dishes The house was spotlessly clean.

The tv needs to be updated to a smart tv. Everyone streams these days. No one uses dvds or travels with them.

Worth noting that phone coverage can be poor in the west of Tassie, & Vodaphone in particular is not well covered, so recommend ensuring you have received the text message for the door code prior to arrival. Unfortunately we did not receive the text ( no thanks to vodaphone) but the host was easily contactable and responsive, so resolved the problem straightaway.

Enjoyed our stay at Greengate Cottages, in a quiet street but just a couple of minutes drive to the town centre, Gordon River Cruises, Howarth Falls & the supermarket. Wifi was good and everything we needed was provided. Undercover parking & a washing machine were a bonus.

Single beds were quite small and all pillows were really high and hard. The cottage had paint peeling on the walls inside and the outside paint work was badly in need of maintenance. The laundry tap was leaking. The carport area was muddy on one side and could do with some rock or dollarmite

Facilities were good and cottage had everything you need for self catering. House was warm and comfortable. Good location, just out of town centre
