Office closes early but they did provide key; no help getting a cab from ferry, room was TINY.

The location was a bit out of Airlie Beach (around a 40 minute walk each way). There was a bus that is cash only, is reliable and runs every 20 minutes ($2.40). The accommodation also offers bike rental. If you are after avoiding the busy centre then this would be okay for you.

Very very friendly and helpful staff (especially Melanie)! Clean, modern, plenty of areas to cook and really nice room which was quiet. Affordable laundry facilities.

Little things that don’t matter

The sliding door and flyscreen door did not work properly. Extremely hard to close and lock the door properly.

The location was a bit outside of central Airlie and the buses in the area were often late, although if you like to get a way from the chaos for a bit and especially if you have a car it’s great.

We really enjoyed the nature in the area, the room was nice and it was great to have air conditioning. We also loved to have a pool.

The 2 bedroom unit was too small for five people in that there was a sofa bed in the living/dining area, no room for privacy. The bathroom could have had a few extra robe hooks or bath rails. The unit also lacked a decent sized mirror anywhere. There was no stove top but we used the common kitchen instead. The single room we had booked was clean but had a terrible musty/mouldy smell. On inspection, it was found the airconditioner needed a thorough cleaning which was attended immediately. However, some of the musty/mouldy smell remained.

The 2 bedroom unit we had was clean, slept 5 and had airconditioning. The accommodation is nestled in rainforest, was quiet at night and had easy parking for our car. The kitchenette had a good sized fridge with ample crockery and cutlery. Sarah was very helpful with any of our requests.

Unfortunately, we had not realised that uber did not exist in Airlie Beach. Therefore, if you are out in town it costs a lot of money to book the local taxis just for a 5 minute drive back to Kipara. The buses are also rather irregular, so it is great if you are living a relaxed island life but not so great if you’re trying to go back and forth from Kipara into town. I would really recommend Kipara but only if you had a car or have a tour//modes of transport aside from local taxis and buses. (The walk is 45 minutes on the road?

The front desk team were so so kind and so so helpful. Every member of staff we bumped into were lovely. The pool had just been renovated and it was really nice. A great retreat.

It is a bit far from the main town. However, there are regular buses across the road, and the taxi service was also very effective.

The team at Kilpara was very friendly and helpful. The place is very beautiful and overall clean. The family cabin was very spacious and had all we needed.

The cabins lacked in natural lighting so it feels like you're in a miners work camp rather than a rainforest lodge. The mattresses were quite soft and I think $250 per night was a little pricy (although we did book over new years).

Cabins were new, fresh and clean with great amenities.
