Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceI booked a bed in a 4-bed dormitory, with fan. The dormitory is large enough, so you do not feel packed at all. The bed is a bunk bed, large enough, with a fair enough good mattress. For this dorm (and the entire hostel), as a male, you have access to 1 shower, 1 toilet, 1 sink. All were clean. You also have access to a fully equipped kitchen, without oven. The common space is nice. The place is a local charmful house, hence it has more the feeling of a guest house than a proper hostel. The WiFi is good. 500m away from main beach. 1km away from Woolworths / Coles supermarket. 2km away from Greyhound / Premier Motor Service bus stop. The owner, Phil, is very chilled and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a short or a long stay.

All aspects are appreciated except for the proprietor. I am deeply grateful for any assistance extended to me. However, the manner in which he attempts to aid is peculiar and somewhat assertive. While it is acknowledged that he is entitled to a bonus from all tour guides, a more composed approach is encouraged.

United KingdomThe property isn’t locked up so technically anyone can come in and out. It’s a converted house, which is fine of course and makes it cosy, but we felt like we walked into the sitting room in the evening and intruded a little. Windows were all open to air out the room, so a few mozzies, but luckily we didn’t get bitten too much
Luckily because the door was unlocked, we were able to drop our bags off before our day out. A comfortable bed made for a good nights sleep. Cute room and nice vibes.

ItalyThe ladies bathroom wasn’t very clean; The hostel stays open 24/7 so anyone (and anything: possum for example) could have access inside anytime so it doesn’t feel completely safe, but nothing has happened to us.
The place is at a very good position near the beach and few shops; The hostel has nice vibes, different from others; Phil, the owner, is one in a million and his dog is very sweet.

United KingdomThe owner gave it a slightly strange vibe, nothing was lockable- all doors left open all night. I’m not sure I would want to stay here if I was a solo female traveller.
The place was really pretty, well decorated and the beds were comfy. It was also a nice small vibe so could get to know the other people staying there!

AustriaThe biggest problem is that you can’t lock the doors and that there are no lockers. This is a known issue (for locals) and there are no cameras. This just gave me an uneasy feeling when going on day trips and leaving valuables in the room. The walls are really thin and the beds are really squeaky so if you have a light sleep that might be an issue.
It’s clean and the owner gave me some nice tips on what to do

AustraliaAs other reviewers have pointed out the top half metre of ajoining bedroom walls are wooden railing, not solid wood so light and noise travels between rooms....
The property is small but it has a cosy, cottage vibe going on. The bed was comfy and the water hot so all good....

AustraliaIt's a very small structure (it's actually a house transformed into hostel ) so it's not so social, not many facilities, not a real common room
The manager has been very kind, we gave me many useful suggestions about the best places to visit and also the best moment of the day do visit them. He also agreed to keep my suitcase for free during my tour to Freser Island! Very cosy and friendly structure.

AustraliaSomeone stole my beer and chocolate milk out of the fridge. The check was kind of confusing because I booked it on the net, and I was kind of lost as to what to do when I got there, however that is more on me than the place.
