There was some street noise in the early morning due to busy-ness of Williams Road

The room was beautifully decorated & very comfortable. Yana was a very helpful & pleasant host. Proximity to Hawksburn station made this very convenient to the city

it was sad t see the maintenance on the house falling down. eg the extra cleaning needed to make it 'shine" picture frames needed a close clean, the bathroom grouting was dirty. However I understand there are no servants to do this work these days, and the family is running on low labour numbers. The friendly welcome and the house itself made up for all of these minor observations. I will return whenever I am in Melbourne.

Location

The hotel is an older two story house pleasantly furnished with charming furniture corresponding to the era . Whilst some people may be frustrated with creaky floors and a lack of modernity I found no issues to complain about. For me the location was perfect and the staff at the front desk were very helpful

The garden is scruffy and while the price is reasonable, I'm prepared to overlook the garden and return because the price is affordable for us coming regularly from the country. The cupboard door on the closet is stiff and difficult to open and close.

The period style furnishings and decorations, the live flowers, the collection of books to browse, the easy parking, quiet and large room and the access to the dining room with real china, cutlery and microwave plus fridge in our room and tea and coffee facility. The bathroom was well appointed, a good size and clean. The welcoming, restful, shared lounge room with chesterfield couches gave the house a stately yet homely manner, befitting a manor house. The manager was friendly and helpful, ready to assist us with a charger and to choose the best room for our purposes.

This was an elegant mansion converted into a B&B. We stayed in two different rooms in two separate stays. We particularly liked the upstairs room and in general the ambiance of the place. It was pretty cozy and had a comfortable bed and good shower pressure. With more time to relax, we could have spent evenings in the large common living room but our stay was pretty short. We hired a car, and off-street parking was a great plus as well.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like

It was in a great location right across from a railway station with easy access to the city. Our room (room 6) was on the ground floor and was huge with lovely big windows. The bed was really comfy and, despite being on a busy road, we didn’t even hear the traffic. Oh, and there was plenty of off-street parking.
