How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The Saturday night was pretty noisy on the street and we were on the first floor but other nights it was fine.
We have stayed here a few times. The location is excellent. Right near the restaurants and bars of Fitzroy and easy trams into the city. A Coles next door for basics. The staff are always lovely and the place is spotless.

Lighting not ideal, toiletries not as nice as in the pictures.
Excellent location, spotlessly clean, very spacious, great quality linen and towels, kitchen exceptionally well stocked, convenient garage, warm welcome at reception desk, lovely balcony.

Nothing we didn’t like. The bedside light didn’t work and the sink didn’t drain away properly, but these could be dealt with and we mentioned to staff as we left as we were only staying a night.
It was extremely clean and a lovely bright apartment. In a great location too. Bed very comfortable.

The loud purring of a motor going all night long. It kept me awake all night and it was a real pity because the apartment was great otherwise.

Hmmm.....The only thing I could think of is the doors may need a fresh coat of paint and it would have been nice to have some coffee supplied for the plunger, but hey, I am now being picky. :P
This was not the first time we have stayed here and it certainly won't be the last. I booked a single bedroom apartment, but we were given a two bedroom/2 bathroom which was fab! My hubby snores, so I didn't have to wear the earplugs I had packed. The beds are super comfortable, the kitchen great, the space huge, the artwork funky, the balcony sizable and everything just worked. The biggest draw card for us though is the private parking that is included and does not need to be booked ahead. This makes things nice and easy and the location is close to heaps of food and next to a Coles too.

A spacious and well-appointed apartment in an up-and-coming part of Melbourne. It had everything we needed. An easy walk or tram ride into the City centre, and lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Excellent base for a stay in Melbourne - we'd've loved to have stayed longer!

Everything was perfect!
Great location and property is close to #11 tram route into the Melbourne CBD. From walking into reception to entering our room it was a positive experience - it smelled fresh and was spotlessly clean. Reception staff extremely welcoming and friendly. Facilities were excellent and the condition of our apartment was top notch.

Nothing - it was perfect.
Comfortable, spacious, clean and well maintained. The location was terrific - near bus and trolley stops, next door to a Cole’s grocery store and located in the hip and fun Fitzroy neighborhood.

The price was expensive however I understand there was high demand in the are that week, F1 etc.

Fitzroy is always a vibrant and interesting spot. This time during our stay the Spanish street festival was in full swing. Staff were very helpful in giving us early access to our room and allowing us to leave luggage until we needed to head to the airport. The cafes and bookshops in the surrounding area are well worth exploring.

Didn’t quite live up to the luxury tag - the sofa had a large stain on one of the cushions which was a bit unsightly
Very good location, spacious apartment at the back of the building which was quiet. Comfortable bed. Washing machine and dryer came in very handy. Ideal location next to a supermarket and near to lots of bars and food places with tram stops on the corner with Brunswick

Great location. The apartment was large, comfortable and clean. Great option for a stay in Melbourne. Close to the city and located in the middle of the restaurant and bar area. Secure parking was also included.
