Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsFor the price, cleaning the fridge and some other parts of the room could be improved. The noise from the upstairs neighbours was not great, and it sounded like they decided to rearrange the furniture very late at night.
It was a very spacious room, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was nice, and the bathroom was very big. The location is very good; we could easily reach everywhere, including the airport. The noise insulation from the street is very good.

United KingdomAfter seeing fitness centre and pool listed in the facilities, you had to pay extra for them. The garish artwork on every piece of wall. The dark wooden decor everywhere - it's not 1983 anymore. European format of single beds pushed together for a double, with separate duvets. No mention on the sales page as being part of a casino.
Big, spacious suite - although the room was so large, the TV in the main room needs to be bigger! Big shared balcony. Location was perfect for me, near to office, walking distance from city centre and 100m from underground station.

SlovakiaIn comparison to the hotel I stayed in the previous night the staff were not as welcoming, The hotel décor is very dark and over full of quite imposing and a little depressing art. (oil paintings adorn every single wall) as a gallery it was very interesting and one I would probably visit, but not the most comforting of feelings as a hotel as it made the halls very dark and somewhat claustrophobic. The Spa which attracted me to the hotel was an extra cost (did not pay as I was not staying that long) And I think Booking.com should colour code the icons (green if the spa is free and orange if it an additional cost) The room was on the whole was clean but one of the cups was stuck to the saucer and had coffee strains, and the head rest of the spa bath had black mould under it which meant I did not use it. Breakfast was just ok, a decent selection but nothing that jumped out at me and made me think I fancy that. Again the breakfast room was dark and a bit claustrophobic.
My room (301) was absolutely huge, just the private hall to my room was bigger than some hotel rooms I have stayed in, with an extra large bed, sofa, dinning table, kitchen, and bathroom with bidet and spa bath. The décor was something out of an old James bond movie and I expected Sean Connery to be sitting in the corner. The room came equipped with it's own business centre which included a laptop and keyboard/mouse combo, And on the whole was clean with some exception. The location was ok, for where I wanted to be, about 15 minutes walk to the city centre.

RomaniaToiletries in the bathroom are as in 3-star hotel, the radiator in the bathroom was dusty, looking as a whole, is more a 4-star hotel, not 5.

GermanyThe facilities were overrated and outdated. You need to purchase extra the entrance to the pool and a swimming cap, which makes sense but the guest needs to be informed before arrival. The breakfast was not as fresh as expected.
The art is a good touch. I little bit exaggerated but nice, the hotel is well located and has good contacts with a day-tour provider. They room was clean and spacious

CyprusThe jacuzzi in the bathroom didn't work. The little kitchenette had no crockery, cutlery, or anything to cook with, all there was were glasses, cups and teaspoons, despite there being a hob and oven. The casino downstairs was just a few slot machines and bingo. None of the above bothered me, but thought I would mention it for others.
The hotel is in a good location, about a 10 minute walk in to town centre. We stayed in a one bedroom apt and it was huge, easily the biggest I've stayed in.. comfortable bed. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice.

United KingdomThe hotel was very warm, and room staff kept closing windows when making the room up. All of the pool, spa, sauna facilities were at extra cost (and considerable cost) which was not made clear on the booking.com pages at all.
The hotel is nice, located on a main street going away from Serdika metro stop. Bathroom was small but well equipped. Room was comfortable. Breakfast buffet was a good selection of foods.

BulgariaCompared to previous time I was slightly disappointed as breakfast seemed more of quickly bought things from the store, barely any hot food. Coffee is now paid if you exceed allocated amount, my boyfriend wanted to use the fitness that was paid as well - 10lv. It seem to me we got little to none value for the money spent as usually all these facilities are included in other 5 even 4 star hotels.
I've come to hotel Anel before and that's why I've booked it again when visiting with my boyfriend. Bed was comfortable and size of the room is great - lots of space and we love the old style room, plus all the art work. Bathroom is gorgeous.

United KingdomThe kitchenette with two-ring hob in my room had not a single pot, pan, knife, fork, plate, bowl, etc. Really makes a mockery of having a kitchenette unless you travel with your own cookware. Clearly just done to be able to claim to provide a facility that they really don't. Annoyed me to check into a five-star hotel with a pool, and then to have to pay extra to use it.
This place takes a unique and distinctive approach to its decor rather than a crowd-pleasing one, so it's going to appeal to some and turn others off, but I loved it. The location is good - walkable from the main station and from the city centre with good local provisions. The staff member who checked me in was charming. I didn't make much use of the facilities other than the restaurant for a couple of beers and the WiFi, which was stable and reasonably fast.

ItalyIt doesn't fit 5 stars hotel standards in my opinion. Yes there is a casino, a spa and a museum but for example breakfast is not so good as expected especially compared to other hotels around Europe even with 4 stars hotels.
The room was clean, big enough for two people. The view on on side of the building wasn't so interesting. They offer you coffee in your room every day. Confortable beds, clean blankets. Hotel close to the metro not far from the city center and the main attractions.
