눉1. Checking in took ages! 2. Getting a seat at breakfast is a major challenge from 9am onwards. The seating is simply not enough and if the hotel is even half full you will have an issue to get a table in the morning. 3. No iron is available at the hotel. 4. The view from the pool is excellent but... You cannot call it a pool. It's tiny! We never saw anyone step into it either when we were there. It would be better to remove it altogether and make it a seating area instead.
눇1. The location is good across the beach on Copacabana. 2. Breakfast has a good variety. 3. Rooms are of a decent size.

눉Fraud / scam practises The day before leaving the hotel we asked at the reception how long a taxi ride to the central bus station would be. They answered and also mentioned that all the taxi’s in Rio the Janeiro would be on strike the day of departure and advised to try to take a car from the hotel. On the day of departure the bell boy asked if we needed a taxi. He arranged a non-official taxi. After loading our luggage he mentioned the price: it was three time more then what we paid on a regular taxi (by the meter) before. Because in our opinion this was ridiculous, we asked the reception if they could call a regular taxi. They didn’t want to do this (and didn’t tell why, also they were not sure anymore about wether there was a strike or not). We decided to walk to another hotel (next door) and asked if they could call a taxi: no problem at all! Finally we used a regular taxi and paid about a third of the price of the taxi arranged by The Golden Tulip. At least four person’s of The Golden Tulip (one bell boy and three receptionists) were involved and were lying about the strike and the possibilities to get a regular taxi. I expect they will get money from the “fake” taxi drivers when they deliver customers. Tourists being cheated is something you see a lot in Rio, but it is a bloody shame that even personnel of your own hotel is involved in this!
