Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaI wouldn't have stayed more than one night here. The trains are loud and disruptive to sleep. I know there isn't anything that can be done about it and earplugs are provided, but I couldn't do more than one night.
The rooms were satisfactory and clean and the bed was comfortable. The little sitting area on our floor was cute. This was a great location for just one night if you have to go over to Vancouver for a medical appointment or something like that in New Westminster. Very economical which is great considering it's already expensive and a pain to have to travel to Vancouver for medical reasons. The building also has an interesting history, and the attached pub has some great pizza for a fast and easy dinner option!

CanadaThis is an old hotel (historic!) and the carpet in the room was due for replacement, but the delightful sitting rooms on our floor more than made up for it.
Located conveniently next to the Columbia Metro Station. Helpful and courteous staff. We arrived at midnight and were very pleasantly surprised the next morning to discover we were a block from the Fraser River.

CanadaOur window looked onto the skytrain station which required closed blinds in the evening & did not make for a great view. Was required to go down to reception to ask for ice cubes instead of easy access through an ice box on our floor
The decor, privacy, and general ambience rounded out to a very comforting, reliable & repeatable experience. Especially loved the old-school heavy keys for room entry! Decently close proximity to entertainment.

United KingdomIt was very noisy with the trains although they did supply earplugs. The room was basic and needed some TLC. When we arrived I did not have a credit card as I always use apply pay and that caused a problem with the deposit although I had already paid for the room for 12 days before I arrived. The heating had been turned right down when we arrived so the room was cold,
It was situated downtown where we wanted to be. Their was always plenty of hot water.

JapanThe lobby often smelled heavily of marijuana and there were occasional disruptive sounds from the street after closing time for the bar downstairs.
Clean and comfortable with good service and amenities. Located near station, convenience store and good food. Ride easily to downtown or Metrotown, walk or ride to New Westminster station for groceries, pharmacy and other daily needs.

CanadaWas a bit too cold and I cranked the heat and didn't have extra blankets in the room. Yes I could have called down, but maybe an extra in the room during winter would be better. Noise form the skytrain was a little annoying but I sleep like the dead so it was ok. Also no microwave like the pics showed in my room. Wasted some food I planned on heating up.
Location. What a cool city new west is.

CanadaThere was a microwave and fridge and coffee maker in the room, but no dishware other than a couple of paper cups.
Convenient location close to Skytrain and the New West Quay. The room was spacious with high ceilings and a view of the river. I was travelling with my grown-up daughter and we each had a comfy queen-size bed.

CanadaI could hear all of the sky train noises and people talking from my room. Can’t pinpoint why but felt a little unsafe in the rooms
Small and cozy. Lots of things around the hotel in terms of food. Staff was accommodating when I had some payment issues.

CanadaCleanliness needs to be improved (carpet cleaning/vaccum, hair on linens, sanitize tv remotes and light switches (greasy), tub needs scrubbing. Front desk staff very low energy and complacent, hard to get even a hello out of them.
Price for 3 nights was very economical (black friday rate). Location is perfect for the train and there are close restaurants. Fridge and desk are good size for doing work and making food. Wifi signal strong and lots of bandwidth.

CanadaIt was a very clean and tidy room throughout my stay. There must have been a mouse (at night). I had a grocery store bag, with a plastic snack bag inside) on the desk and it was nibbled through the last night I was there. I threw them both out before checking out.
Excellent location. Excellent view

CanadaThe air conditioning was on when we arrived which was unexpected in mid-October. It felt as though it was on in the hallway on our floor as well. Overall, easy fix in the room and no other issues.
I appreciate the character of the hotel, from the sitting areas in the common areas between the rooms to the high arches around the windows in the rooms. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

United KingdomThe hotel butts up to Columbia SkyTrain station which is very convenient but the room i had (438) overlooks the tracks where they go underground and the patio/outdoor area of the pub attached to the hotel. The trains run pretty frequently all day and most of the night and the patrons of the bar can get "rambunctious" so ambient noise from outside the hotel was quite high. The hotel did supply earplugs in the room though so they at least acknowledge that the noise is an issue. Could be avoided though for a little investment in some double glazing... Also, the single glazed windows and the fact that the AC unit in the room was fitted badly with gaps down the side meant that the ambient temperature in the room was chilly when the wind blew and at night. The heating did work though so not a massive issue. There was something wrong with the toilet. It would flush most of the time but would be constantly filling and emptying. There were also times when the flush handle would stick or simply flap about and not achieve anything. WiFi was a bit sluggish too. My room might have been at the far end of the range of the nearest access point (top floor, back left corner 😂 doesn't get much further away from the front!)
Nice big room, large comfy bed. Might have been the "off" season but there didn't seem to be many other guests on my floor so it was nice and quiet in that sense (see below for the not so nice and quiet bit). Well situated for access to public transit into the downtown core (Columbia station is right next to it, New West station is a short walk to the west) and out into the suburbs to the east (Coquitlam etc). Hills. Lots of frankly aggressive hills 😂 New West is on the Fraser River and literally everything is uphill from there! Some of them feel like they're at least 45º so warm up your legs and glutes before you go exploring the surrounding areas. If you're in Vancouver for a wedding then you're in the right area; the whole area is filled with bridal shops and suit shops!
