Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOne of our party had an internal facing room and the window was fixed so the room was airless (Room 450). Not sure 454 was much better. Hot tubs looked OK - but bar next to it is small and is fridge-based with no actual bar. The tubs are often full and attempts to ration visits to 20 minutes as promised failed. The redesigned lobby bars and restaurants are a disappointment. The refurbished 'sports bar' which was in use a few years ago (and perfect for a bar meal and a beer with loads of seats and TVs) has been changed to a function room - and not open. The main restaurant/bar is not large and they want diners not drinkers so meeting there for a drink was not easy as seats minimal.
Location is perfect for Banff town shops and restaurants, and getting to the ski resorts of Norquay and Sunshine Village. Hotel is good, though rooms are not very spacious, particularly the King doubles.

CanadaOur room faced the air conditioning unit on the roof, so the view wasn't very nice to look out on. Also i found it strange the tv was on the side wall and not at the end of the bed.
Location was great. Right in town. Close to everything. Nice that they offer a complimentary glass of wine

CanadaIt is definitely an older building. The room was nice enough but the barn doors on the bathroom did little for privacy.

CanadaThe price is a little high for my taste (but that's just because I used to be a cheap backpacker!), but considering the location, it is honestly reasonable. The first-come-first-serve parking isn't ideal, but understandable. The only super minor issue we had is that the room was advertised to have a bathtub and did not, but there is a hot tub on the roof so it isn't a big deal. Overall, good stay.
This hotel is excellent! The room was spacious, clean, and very modern, the restaurant has good variety, excellent food, and a nice atmosphere, staff are very friendly, and the hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Banff.

CanadaThe one major downside of this hotel is the lack of parking. There is not enough guest parking to accommodate everyone and it was very stressful circling around the town hoping for a spot to come available every time we left. The first day we could not get a spot at all and ended up luckily seeing someone pull out of a spot on the street where we parked overnight. I was only able to pay for 2 hours though and had to keep renewing but the machine would not allow me to book the next morning. I had to set my alarm for early the next morning to pay for the parking again so we didn't get ticketed or towed. This is not how I want to spend my weekend away. The parking was very expensive and I paid about $18 for 4 hours. The next day we planned to get back early from our hike to make sure we got a spot and we rushed back from our outing to be back for 3:30pm. Again everything was full and we were left scrambling for a parking spot. When we asked the front desk about other options or suggested a parade we saw from our window we were discouraged from parking elsewhere because it did not have the same security as the hotel lots (which were full). There is an option to park a far distance away on the edge of town and take a shuttle in but that was not convenient when we were taking luggage and other bags in and out. This parking issue seems to be a chronic problem with the hotel and I think they need to be prepared to make other parking arrangements or at least refer people to another lot. It really put a damper on our experience and caused unnecessary stress and it made me not want to come back even though everything else about the hotel was great.
The location of the Mount Royal Hotel is perfect right in the heart of Banff Avenue and a short walk to restaurants, bars, and shops. We were upgraded for both nights with a great view of Banff Avenue below. We loved the hot tub and enjoyed soaking after dinner. The room was a great size, very clean, and with all the amenities we needed like a kettle, coffee maker, a robe, and lots of towels.

United KingdomThe lifts were not working in certain areas so the walk to the reception was very confusing. At one point we ended in an area under renovation and another time we ended up on the street and had to walk down the Main Street back into the hotel. It was sometimes difficult if you had all your luggage. We did mention at the front desk that signs around the hotel to help you navigate your way around would be helpful. This was not done during our stay. The young man called Cole who worked in the bar on the roof was very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble . Lovely employee.
Beautiful hotel and comfortable bed.

United States of AmericaThe electrical outlets on both lampstand side tables did not work - we managed to find enough outlets for three people to charge our devices, but we had to search for them and unplug a lamp. At least we found plenty of plugs, but a couple of items did not charge and we’re dead in the morning because we didn’t realize the charging stations didn’t work.
Location was perfect!! We could walk to the restaurants and sightsee around town. It was a perfect location!!

Israel$50 per night instant charge for incidentals. While other hotels do a credit card hold, this hotel actually charges your card right away, and then returns the money a few days after you check out. The hotel is very big. I stayed in the Heritage wing, which meant a long walk inside to get to the room, including ~10 stairs. When you're doing it with luggage or if you have mobility issues - this can be a challenge. The stairs did seem to have an accessibility chair lift, but I imagine it's a real bummer to use several times a day just to get to your room. If you have mobility issues - I recommend consulting the hotel before booking a room. The room was pretty dark, especially the closet area (with the fridge and safe inside) and the dining table. Overall - pretty high price.
Great location, close to many restaurants and shops Decent size room Well-equipped (fridge, safe, Nespresso coffee machine) Clean & comfortable Public bus station (Roam) next to the hotel Nice little museum and library area on the 2nd floor
