it was difficult to find the reception of the hotel or someone of the staff when we arrived.

Bathroom sink was clogged, bed was wobbly when you sat down on it, dusty behind the bed. Broken tiles on bathroom floor.

The 6:30am intermittent screaming chainsaw sound that never stopped. HVAC system? Truly ruined the restful stay.

The staff were very pleasant. The building is nicely located on the river with lovely historical features. The suite was large. There is an elevator but you can walk to 3rd floor. The restaurant is really good with great service and delicious food. (The soup was amazing - sweet potato turkey.) It is well priced. Perfect location for a walk of the town. Very pretty for Christmas.

The mattress was fairly soft, so my husband awoke with a slightly sore back. The room was very clean and tidy overall: it's just that I dropped something behind the headboard, and it looked as if no one had vacuumed down there in a while...

Very pretty setting in historic building on Port Hope's attractive main street, next to river and near shopping, theatre, and restaurants. Third floor room, despite location over busy restaurant, was very quiet and peaceful. Charming heritage feeling but with a nice Danby mini-fridge! Staff, though juggling with a busy restaurant, were courteous, helpful, and responsive. Very comfortable and spacious room.

one question..... how would we have contacted someone if we had a problem at night? perhaps noisy guests (we did not have any) or a plumbing problem etc?

I removed the carpet stain myself with soap , as last visit i thought it was gum:) The hangers in the closet are mismatched ? It looks out of character, when opening the closet . I mentioned to the maintenance ( on my last stay) that the sink needs a pump and product to remove accumulated debris that is causing slow drainage. It was not address either. A little more attention to these details would be beneficial:)

I am handicapped and found the parking challenging. Parking places for hotel guests could be reserved next to the hotel, including a handicapped spot.

Room cold, Windows were old, with no storms and so cold and loud with intersection there.

The street noise was very loud -cars, trucks, etc. The window was partially opened to accommodate a free-standing air conditioner (which was very nice to have), but I think there should have been more insulation to reduce the transfer of noise from the street into the room. Its current setup only had a metal plate with no insulation blocking the gap. I think if it was better insulated the noise transfer would be Much Less. Just a suggestion, I know with turn-of-the-century buildings you need to be 'understanding' of these quirks.

Although cleaned well the bathroom needed a lot of TLC, holes in the wall, paint chipped off walls and shower curtain definitely needed replacing.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant on site was extremely good. The servers were very knowledgeable and friendly and the food was top notch.
