Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe outside could be swept up a bit and I wish the restaurant was more welcoming (I'm not even sure if it's open). The carpet is a bit older looking...however, none of this will deter me from staying there because I like so many things about it.
Besides the location, I love the free breakfast, which is very good. I like the coziness of the hotel lobby (for lack of a better word). I typically do not hang out in hotel lobbies, but this one feels like my living room. So not only did I hang out there in the morning, but had drinks in the lobby, too. I appreciate the art collection and the lilies in the lobby were a lovely touch as they fill the room with their scent. I love Old Montreal and plan to stay at L'Hotel again. I've also recommended it to a friend of mine who will be staying there in mid-April.

United States of America-we killed multiple bugs in the bathroom -there were no bathrobes in the room (like it said there should be). We asked for them and they said they’d bring them right up but never did. -there was an event at the church on the morning of checkout and it closed the streets for 5 blocks. I don’t blame the staff for this because they have no control over this situation. However, I do blame them for not telling us what was going on when we waited and waited and waited and our car didn’t arrive. Instead they kept saying our car would be here any minute without any explaination. Eventually we learned of the situation and decided we’d rather hike out to the car with our baggage in a snowstorm than wait (and this point we’d goggled what was going on and realized it would take hours for the event to end). But we couldn’t because no one knew where our car was. The valet had picked it up and then wasn’t answering the phone so that we could walk to him. I walk using a cane, so the whole process of going several blocks in the snow with all of our baggage slipping with my cane was an unexpected adventure that set us back way over an hour on our schedule for the day. The staff never helped or apologized. They shrugged their shoulders. -there are about 6 or so steps that you must climb to enter the lobby, which is worth noting if you have mobility issues. -taxes in old Montreal total around 20%. Adding taxes plus $37/night parking added another $200+ to our bill for two nights. This is worth noting, though it’s likely typical of all hotels in this neighborhood.
Location was perfect. We wanted easy access to all of old Montreal and this was a great location. Decor was fun. Breakfast croissants were nice.

CanadaNo ramp for suitcases. Breakfast is better than what we read but lacking any meat or vegetables or cheese. No slippers or additional toiletries offered in room (toothbrush, razor) which you would expect at a hotel. Coffee machine in the room had not been cleaned (still had old water inside).
Great location. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Helpful and friendly staff.

CanadaThe breakfast was really disappointing for the price, there was no meat or cheese, only toast and peanut butter. They should offer bacon and fresh berries and not just overripe mushy apples and dry bread.

United States of AmericaThe breakfast consisted of only two types of pastries, however this was not a big deal to us as we ate out most mornings. The biggest issue was the hot water - we stayed 3 nights during January and found it difficult to take a hot shower. The water was very temperamental and had to be running for at least 10 minutes to get warm. You have to time your showers right during the day, as the water in the morning gets lukewarm at best, afternoon is better. We were told this is an issue when the hotel is at full capacity.
The staff was very friendly and responsive, and the location was excellent! Walking distance to everything we wanted to do - Old Port and Notre Dame are only steps away. Our room was large and clean. Would stay again!

AustraliaThe breakfast included was very poor, it had no gluten free options and was not really a breakfast. There was nothing we could eat. The hot water in the shower was at best lukewarm. It was the coldest showers we have had in a long time. We could hear the noise from the hallway - some rubber door seals at the bottom of the doors would likely make a significant difference. Don’t think we would stay here again.
The location, staff were friendly and loved the decor.

United States of AmericaThe art was interesting and the rooms were comfortable. The Lobby was crowded with furniture and did not look very clean and there was an odor when we first arrived that seemed to improve. Breakfast was minimal and we had to go somewhere in addition to get enough food and coffee

United States of AmericaThe place is nice but it could be excellent with some attention to details: There was a small writing pad in the room but no pen. No minibar. The mini fridge was completely empty. A couple of small water bottles would have been great. The bar is abysmal. They have some sort of electronic pour system on their liquor bottles. Aside from not having a single of the half dozen 12 and 16 year old whiskey they list the pour was so small the staff apologized profusely. The “breakfast” is not a breakfast. They offer a plain croissant and a chocolate croissant plus a cup of coffee. That’s it. No fruit no yogurt nothing else. So it’s not really a breakfast. The music in the lobby (probably delivered via Bluetooth) was skipping constantly to the point where sitting in the lobby for more than a few minutes was giving me a headache. The poor staff have to listen to skipping music all day. I asked to use the “mail service” listed under services in the guest book. I wanted to have them mail 2 postcards to the US because I was there only one weekend and the post office was closed to get stamps. I was told that they can’t handle mailing 2 postcards.
Excellent size room. High ceilings, real (soundproof) walls, black out drapes, comfortable bed.
