Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThey gave us a room with two beds joined together. This was inconvenient for us as a couple. We would have liked a single bed.
Location was excellent. They gave us an upgrade for the room and also meal vouchers.

AustraliaA kettle in the room would be great for those who don't care for coffee. The coffee machine in the room was not suitable for making tea with your own choice of tea. The 'double' beds are really twins pushed together with their individual linen sets.
The location is unequalled! In the thick of all the waterside (though pricy) restaurants with al fresco dining in good weather. Behind the hotel lies a labryrinth of narrow streets forming the old town, with yet more restaurants, and up-market shopping opportunities galore. Just across the bridge is the main railway station, and the piers where the cruise boats for Lake Luzern originate. The rooms with the views tend to be small but that is offset if you opt for a balcony room which sort of extends your living space, The restaurant does great food, and breakfast off the menu is available all day. The hotel also gives a 18.50 Euro voucher/night of stay, which can be redeemed for anything in the restaurant. (Not sure if the voucher is per room, or per room occupants.)

The location was ideal! We were right near the chapel bridge and within walking distance to the train station and bus stops. The staff was very helpful in providing details on how to get to Mt. Pilatus.

SingaporeWe went at the wrong time as there was a carnival at Lucerne at that day when we checked in. We actually like the quiet and peace there when we visited Lucerne last time. It would be added advantage if the hotel would inform us during our booking that there will be a carnival. This time round is too noisy for us.
The view of the chapel bridge from the balcony is fantastic.

United States of AmericaThe room was a little small, but not uncomfortable. We didn’t plan to spend any time in the room, so it more than met our needs. Don’t let that stop you from staying here…it is a quality hotel with an unbeatable location!
The location of the Hotel Des Alpes can’t be beat. We had a room overlooking the lake and it was incredible. We had breakfast in the hotel every day and it was delicious. Would absolutely recommend for a romantic getaway!

United KingdomRoom was fairly small but it was fine for a couple of nights. Hotel decor needs attention in some areas. But we would stay there again.
Great location opposite the Chapel Bridge, central and close to the train station. Staff were warm, friendly and helpful. Room was clean, good temperature and comfortable. Great shower and plenty of hot water. Restaurant was excellent!

United KingdomThe hotel is in a really central location, easily accessible to the main sites in the town. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious, we chose a room with a balcony overlooking the chapel bridge and the view was incredible. There is also a very nice downstairs restaurant where we had a lovely evening meal.

Australiahotel is located at the other end of the main bridge across to train station, you can actually see the logo when walking from station. booked room with Chapel Bridge view, so you can take pics of the bridge at night or early morning from a good angle. room facilities bit old, entrance is located at the backstreet - not along the lake, but guess many guests first barge into the hotel restaurant.

United States of AmericaI have stayed at the hotel a couple times and it is a good hotel but the last room I had needs some attention. Mainly the bathroom. The shower had some issues and I was worried the shower door was going to fall off the track every time I used it.
I loved the location of Hotel Des Alpes. I was just spending one night in Lucerne coming and going by train. It is an easy hotel to get to with a suitcase from the train station. On this trip I was also planning on visiting a Christmas market. There happened to be a Christmas market next to the train station.
