Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandLocated in downtown close to the Kappelbrücke and train station. Clean and nice. It is just a pity that our night was the last one before closing business.

United States of AmericaThe weather was very warm during our stay; there is no air conditioning in the room. We slept with the window open and a floor fan, the room was above a street-level bar, so it was noisy until later in the evening.
A comfortable boutique hotel in the heart of historic Lucerne. Our second-floor room, while small, was artfully decorated, clean, and very comfortable, with a large opening window. Breakfast was simple, and service was excellent. The staff was welcoming and helpful, with great recommendations for area restaurants and sights.

Lovely hotel in the old town. 10 min walk from the station, beautiful area. Clean, friendly staff, comfortable bed with down pillows and blankets. It has an elevator even though located in historical building. Would stay there again.

United States of AmericaThe beautiful historical building and its’ location in the historical center. It is close to the river with many nice outdoor restaurants close by. The breakfast was exceptional as was the service throughout our stay. I had a dental emergency and Marija, the manager, arranged for a quick appointment close by. Marija goes out of her way to make every guest feel special and her staff is top notch.

This hotel is a quintessential "Boutique Hotel". Absolutely charming! Tucked into it's own piazza in the midst of old town. It just couldn't be cuter. Very comfortable beds, linens and very clean. The hotel staff is very nice and super helpful!

United States of AmericaThe room was very warm at night so we had to have our balcony door open but the noise and cigarette smoke from the restaurant below was annoying. We did know there was no air conditioning.

United States of AmericaThere is no AC, so just something to think about when booking. Also had to evacuate the building in the middle of the night due to a fire alarm… all was a false alarm and nothing came of it, but rather frustrating as it was the night before we were scheduled to leave.
Really enjoyed our stay in Lucerne at the Schussel hotel. Great location and large, spacious rooms. Check in was easy and clearly communicated!

United States of AmericaThere wasn't air conditioning which is typical for hotels in this area. The windows needed to be open and it was a little noisy at night but can't be helped by the hotel. For a quiet area you will give up convenience of location.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with tips and directions around the city. Make sure you have dinner at the restaurant...it is AMAZING. The room was sizeable and very clean. This hotel is close to the train station. We made the mistake of taking a taxi. It's not necessary!
