Lovely garden , comfortable lodge, the walk to the waterfall is a must if you are staying here. Takes 1 hr and you can swim in a lovely spot after about 40 min. Beautiful primal forest on route. Really exceptional trees. We also enjoyed our dinner . Good location for Rio Celeste walk or tubing.

No staff available in the late evening. The cabin floor had gaps in it which let insects through. The standard of the cabins varied - we had two, one was nicer than the other. The double bed was narrow.

Nice cabin, pretty garden. Good base to go to Tenorio national park

Some more small tools in the rooms in order to ease the organisation of guest staff would help a lot

Beautiful location far from noises and roads. Really relaxing. An astonishing garden surrounds the lodges that are at the borders of the forest.

Just add a few hooks around the room to hang damp clothing and towels, but nothing big.

Perfectly nestled at the edge of the forest with an excellent view of the volcano and landscape, morning sun and clouds rising up and over the mountain range, birds and flowers everywhere, an invigorating hiking trail to the waterfall and sweet, spotless cabins… what’s not to love?

Very little to criticise. Having a few very tiny ants in the bed on the last night of our stay was a minor inconvenience, but one must remember that this is the tropics and the wooden-floored cabins aren't exactly sealed to nature.

The cabin at Cataratas Bijagua Lodge was ideal. Surrounded by beautiful gardens full of tropical birds, the accommodation was roomy and comfortable. Breakfasts and evening meals, being variations on the typical Costa Rican Gallo Pinto (rice and beans), were excellent and tasty. And the sloth in the tree behind reception posing for photographs capped it all.

The hotel is amazing in the middle of nature. There is a hiking trail that has access from the hotel. At the end there is an amazing little natural pool where you can swim. This was a top experience.

Wifi was a bit spotty, but we were trying to escape and enjoy our vacation. Parking was limited. In our cabin, the fan and mini frig could not be plugged in at the same time because there was not enough outlets. Not a big issue for one night, but on a longer stay you might want to leave the frigde on all the time. No A/C but it was comfortable at night. Had to drive into the town for coffee before the breakfast was served.

Very nice rustic setting near Tenerio Park. Close to town if you needed items or dinner, but required driving, it was a bit far to walk. Nice big shower with hot water. Back porch with Rocking chairs and hammock. Small place with 6? cabins. Breakfast was good and prepared when you arrived.

    No complaints

Breakfast was very good and nutritious; the mixed fruit was sweet and served in a side dish bowl. Of course the coffee was great ! Our fish dinner was simple but good; they served it with rice and beans , along with a small salad. Our room was super clean although quite rustic--- and that"s what we wanted! The grounds are beautiful with so many tropical plants. The property's trail to the waterfall is definitely challenging! The trail to the Mirador (lookout) was easier!

Lodge in the jungle on the edge of town. The cabin was great backing onto the jungle. Loads of wildlife every day in the morning aflock of toucans came in and hung around for the morning. Couldn't walk the trail both days we were going to it rained. Staff was very good as was the breakfast I believe was typical Costa Rican.

The only things we didn’t like were the fact the curtain rods fell down frequently, the mat in front of the door was a slipping hazard, and the door jammed when opening and closing.

Nearly everything was fantastic! The price can’t be beat. We planned to drive to Rio Celeste to go hiking but then we were told there are private hiking trails to a waterfall at the lodge. We opted for this hike instead and had zero regrets. We got the entire waterfall and swimming hole to ourselves and saw frogs and butterflies on the path! Breakfast was included and it was delicious. The cabin itself was charming and comfortable.

Must have a car to visit attractions as location is quite remote. Staff didn't speak much English but we got by well with Google Translate.

Beautiful quiet property in isolated but lovely location between two volcanoes. Tons of birds and great gardens. Cabins were cute and clean, though rustic.

The lodge pool is just tiny. The personal only speaks Spanish.

Access to a waterfall with plunge pools in a 1h walk directly from the lodge. Very nice, silent and not crowded like the natural park. A bar is just under construction. Dinner is available - just one choice per day. Breakfast typical and ok.

Everything! We had a complete little lodge for ourselves. It was super clean, comfortable with everything we needed for our stay: a/c, enough plug sockets, a little terrace with hammock and a nice bathroom with hot water ;). The hosts were super nice. Only one family member spoke english, but even without a common language we felt mostly welcome and everyone was most helpful. To get there you need to take a gravel road of some kilometre, so a 4x4 is helpful. The position of the lodge is perfect for trips to the National Park and in top of that you have the option to walk to a private waterfall on the premises, where you can have a nice cool swimm after an hour of walking through a stunning piece of rainforest. The breakfast consisted in the tipical costarican choice of gallo pinto or pancakes, but was tasty with good coffee. Because of the quite long gravel road we didn't want to go out by night and decided to take the offered dinner option, which was a good choice.

Not a negative persee, the internet wasn’t the most stable, to me wasn’t a problem but can imagine for other people it is.

Amazing, quiet, away from the tourist masses. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a more authentic experience. The breakfast and dinner on site were pretty good and very practical. The trail next to the house is much nicer then the ‘main attraction’ Rio Celeste, if I had to choose between those two, I would choose the Cataratas Bijagua any day; a bit more rugged and into nature.

Just a small pot of coffee for the early risers would be great - but certainly not a deal breaker.

Wonderful stay for our family. We had two different cabins that everyone enjoyed and were easy to walk to from one to the other. The setting was just beautiful and we loved hearing the river and seeing the beautiful variety of flowers and plantings. Breakfast was delish and they even fulfilled our request for a small special something for our gluten-free family member. Everyone was kind and helpful.
