A bit dated in the rooms but the pool area and the breakfast were great

Like other reviews said the hotel is a bit dated but for us this added to its charm. Restaurant at night was just OK, but happy to have had a place on the property to eat after a long journey! Definitely recommend this hotel!

Loved this hotel! The pool area was amazing, the sounds of the birds, felt like you were in the middle of nature. The wild life sanctuary "rescate" just down the road was a highlight we visited first thing in the morning when they opened! Nice breakfast, lovely grounds and close to the airport - a perfect way to start/end the holiday. We did both :)

Very neat hotel. Felt like a step back in time. It is clear efforts are made to maintain the property even though it is a bit older. It’s not modern but you can imagine the grand parties that were/are had. Lots of fun walking around and looking at the wooden details, etc. Pool was nice. The food at the restaurant was good. We also went to the wild life reserve across the street with our toddler. Highly recommend. Would not have found if we didn’t book this hotel.

Amazing property with a few very minor quirks. Fantastic staff, pool, restaurant and grounds. It feels like you're in Italy, but very close to the SJO airport.

My family and I had a great stay, but my recommendation would be to provide hand towels and facecloths in the rooms.

Beautiful grounds, large pool, spacious rooms, food is good and Wi-Fi works well. The staff is very friendly, especially Didier -receptionist-, he’s very kind, welcoming, helpful and efficient. Frankly, the hotel is showing signs of age, but it is charming and very clean. Location is great if you’re looking to stay close to the airport ($15-20 Uber ride), but also if you’re looking for an environment where you can breathe tranquility and peace. The climate in the area is very pleasant. There is a wildlife rescue center within a short distance from the hotel, and it is a nice place for a half day family tour. Great value overall!

Rooms were a little dated but functional and included aircon and a fridge.

Fabulous pool (cool but refreshing) and adequate breakfast. Very relaxing place to stay close to the airport in Alajuela.

Rooms lacked some essentials for a 5 star hotel, namely hot coffee and tea facilities No bottled water in the fridge..

The hand rails at the pool were loose in both locations.

Pool was clean, spacious. Plenty of choices at breakfast, with both cooked food, fruit and pastries. Staff were helpful, and clearly took pride in the facility.

A perfect place to stay as a stop over to recover from jet-lag and acclimatise to Costa Rica. The hotel is tired but very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and the pool is amazing. The wildlife around the complex was superb. Travellers /families looking for a couple of days post arrival to Costa Rica would like this. It is about 25 min from the airport

Nothing at all. It is a grand old place. Minor thing but perhaps a little maintenance in a few areas which are looking a little aged may help the feel just get to top notch.

The staff were so accommodating, allowing us to keep and reheat some of their lovely pizza from dinner for the following days lunch and keeping our bags for a delayed check-out. Costa Rica hospitality is so good. The pool is a decent sized allowing for reasonable lengths and exercise. The grounds have nice bird and iguana life and opposite the hotel is a wonderful wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary. We played pool and there's all sorts of other facilities we didn't use. Restaurant is very good. All in all I don't see how our last day in Costa rica could have been any better.

Heavily trafficked road right outside so that it was impossible to go for a walk from the hotel. Restaurant incongruously Italian and serving portions that seemed to me much too small. My friend said the pizza he had was horrible. I had a fish dish that was okay, but the veggies were cut in small squares and the potato puree was tasteless. They refused to make me a smoothie that wasn't on the menu (I have many allergies and did not want sugar in my smoothie. Apparently they only can make them with sugar.) Finally I complained bitterly and was served something better than before: a large salad and a plate of aforesaid cut-up veg, but more of them. Plus some avocado i requested. The breakfast was okay, but I didn't eat most of the items available as just white flour cakes and stuff. I liked the gallo pinto and the fruit was good, although the pineapple was the really acid kind that eats holes in your tongue. The cleaning ladies seemed very unhappy, so I made sure to tip them well, which cheered them up.

Room was huge, bathroom huge, all very clean, grounds beautiful. Birds and butterflies flitted about and we saw iguanas around. Staff was responsive when we could understand each other's languages. Beautiful murals downstairs in the main building. Pool was great, though I think I accidentally used another guests's float-toy - I don't think the hotel has them. The best thing besides the great room was that across the road and down a bit there is an animal rescue place with a restauarnt attached with great food, huge portions, and parrots screaming in the nearby trees!

Everything was great.

Location was great for airport. Room was large and roomy. Shower was good. Breakfast was good staff was very professional and friendly. Pool is huge and nice grounds.
