Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyFor a coffee producing country the coffee at breakfast was incredibly bad. The front porch is great, especially in the rain, but $ US 5.00 for a can of local beer 🍺 is a rip-off. But so is all of Costa Rica. By far the most expensive country in Latin America. They take the term "Switzerland of Latin America" quite literally.
Great architecture, very clean. Fantastic interior design that takes you back in time. I felt like I was in "Under the Volcano". The price was surprisingly low 🔅

United States of AmericaThis is probably a US thing but be aware, there is no A/C. Also, when I arrived and checked into my room, the room was very small and had no window to the outside. Therefore it was very stuffy, especially with no A/C. They had a fan but it did little to help. The next morning I said something about moving rooms and they moved me to a much more spacious room with 10 ft ceilings and a window you could open to the outside. Even the bathroom was much larger and more modern. I would recommend that you make sure you specify that you want a room with an outside window and 10 ft ceilings.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond to address my issues. The property and rooms were well maintained. The breakfast was certainly adequate and the room they served it in was very nice. It is within walking distance to most all restaurants and cultural spots downtown.

GermanyJust fan but no aircon. The window of my room did face to an inside part of the house with another window opposite.
Good location, close to pedestrian streets. The house itself is quite unique. Very nice shower. Ok breakfast.

SpainIt was really noisy in the night. I don’t like the fact that the room had unsailed windows. So you could hear the trains passing by since 5:00am.
The place is nice. Staff is kind. And the breakfast is good.

United States of AmericaBreakfast was not that great. I was also not happy with how expensive the transportation was to and from the hotel. I could have stayed at a different hotel with free transportation.
I liked how clean our room was. I liked the building and how old it was. I also liked I was able to stay close to my family in another room near me.

United States of AmericaThe place was nice and clean! Our room was nice and clean as well. Checking in and out of the hotel room was made very easy. Our room was reasonably priced.
We left before breakfast was open. I did not realize transportation to and from the hotel needed to be paid. I had also wanted rooms with air conditioning and we got a fan and a room with no air!

United States of AmericaThe rooms are as advertised. Smaller, with only a window looking into the hotel courtyard, no AC, thin walls, next to train (but it stops running at night - so never an issue).

United States of AmericaThis spot is really close to the train tracks and holy bananas is it LOUD. However, I am definitely on the light-sleeper end of the spectrum, so for someone who isn't bothered by city noises, it probably wouldn't be a problem.
This was a quick one-night stop over after getting in late to SJO. I had a bus out to Puerto Viejo in the AM, so just needed a comfy, safe place to rest before another early morning. Fluer De Lys was great with helping to book a taxi for my late night airport arrival, and the taxi driver was super kind & helpful with getting me settled at the hotel. The breakfast bar in the morning was also wonderful to not have to worry about venturing out for food before catching the bus.

NetherlandsFor me these weren't huge problems but: a bit noisy (from the trains and just not great insulation in general). Furniture in my room was outdated. Breakfast was pretty good, but limited options. (The standard traditional breakfast with tea/Coffee/orange juice)
Location, kind personnel, pretty decent value for money. I thought the interior of the hotel was very cute. My room was a tad small with outdated furniture but clean and fine for me. Generally things were as expected

United States of AmericaMy only disappointment is the rooms are not well insulated. You’re able to hear all conversations and movements in the hallways. And there is no protection against street noises (I.e. honking)
Breakfast was very good and good variety of items. The hotel is charming with a bit of historical flair. Each room is named after a flower
