Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe road to get into pkace
Could have had more of a selection for the complementary breakfast, but everything was tasty. Also, the grounds were beautiful the road to get there was partially paved . it was very close to the Monteverde nature preserve.

United States of AmericaThe road to and from the hotel is very steep, making it hard to walk outside the hotel.
The view from the hotel was amazing. The staff was very friendly and the food at the hotel delicious. Our room was excellent - good facilities and a great view. We enjoyed the family friendly nature of the hotel. A definite place to return in the future.

We loved the location, the restaurant on the second floor overlooking the beautiful landscape was delicious. The staff was very friendly. It was the perfect stay for my son and mother trip. Very close to the Cloud park.

New ZealandThe reservation was for a Junior Suite which included 1 living room, 1 separate bedroom and 1 bathroom. The actual room was one room. When we asked, they blamed it on the Bookings and acted like we should be lucky to have the room we had. The day we were leaving, we spoke with the manager and he explained how they were trying to correct this and they were aware of the issue. No adjustment or compensation was made by the hotel. In addition, on the morning we were leaving, my wife found a pretty big chip of broken glass in her breakfast. We brought it to the waiter’s attention and she brought it to the managers attention so that they could be sure the food was safe for the other guests. Instead, Roberto the manager stood at our table for what seamed like a half hour telling us about his life. As we checked out shortly after breakfast he met us and told us the glass was actually a large piece of salt which is not true. Unfortunately I doubt they did anything about it and our sole goal was to make sure the food was safe at the hotel.
Everything was really pretty great. Very special place.

United States of AmericaOur stay was tooooo brief 🥲
This place is a real hidden jewel♥️‼️♥️‼️. Totally everything from the staff (esp Jane) to the farm to table goid to the sunsets to the walking path to the evening fire pit … just the entire ambiance of “soft aire” and off grid time was over the top for our family. We could have (and wished) stayed for many days longer. It was restful yet energizing, peaceful yet generative. Are you getting the picture???

United States of AmericaIf you don't like driving on steep gravel roads, you probably shouldn't come to Monteverde area. The lodge is about 5 minutes down a small road off the main road from Santa Elena to Monteverde. You want 4 wheel drive here.
What a view! Breakfast on the terrace is amazing. You can see the ocean in the distance, and beautiful forest and mountains. There is always a cool breeze. The restaurant is fantastic, great menu with their own beers. The grounds are extensive with plenty of hiking you can do right there. They are serious about permaculture and there's lots to learn and explore. There is the Monteverde Butterfly Garden just next to the entrance, and a great Italian place Restaurante de Lucia just a 10 minute walk up the road

Top view, excellent (fresh) pizza restaurant - very good fruit juices and cocktails, excellent service. Rooms were spacious and clean - they dont have a view per se - but u can enjoy it from the terrace. Night tour was very informative despite the rain.

The property is beautiful with a great view of the Nicoya Penninsula. The rooms are comfortable with everything you need. There are hiking trails and learning opportunities at the hotel. It is right next door to a butterfly garden. The restaurant is good and serves all day, nice breakfast and good pizza. The staff was well trained and helpful.

SwitzerlandThe yoghurt with Müesli is a bit to small for a breakfast for hikers. If you add two silces of that delicous whole weat bread you have and butter, it's much better.
Perfect place for a stay in San Elena when you love the nature, walks in the forest, bird watching, lots of interesting informations about permaculture and absolut delicious pizzas! The nature reserve that belongs to the hotel is very nice too. Monkies and coties greeted us daily and if you're luky you can see and hear the bellbirds too. The view is amazing and the staff very friendly and speaks good English. And thank you for the upgrade of our room!

United States of AmericaOur stay at Valle Escondido was too short! This is a beautiful and peaceful property. The meals and drinks we had were absolutely delicious. I was skeptical that the rooms would be a comfortable temperature, but they were extremely comfortable with the fan running. The views and breezes are amazing. We did the guided night hike which was nice and we’re also able to explore the trails on our own. I wish we had stayed longer.
