Breakfast options are limited, as with most included breakfasts. The garden needs more upkeep to be welcoming.

The building is utterly beautiful inside: mahogany wood, an onyx spiral staircase! The owner sometimes man's The front desk himself. Everyone was very helpful, and the location is excellent.

The Staff is excellent. The breakfast is very delicious and the rooms are very professional

The Main reason we chose this property was because they allowed our boxer. I understand how allowing dogs in a hostel can be hard but I could find anyone to take care of our dog away.

A couple of downsides - not enough visible plugs for those of us traveling with multiple devices (I used bathroom plugs) and no real working desk area. Lack of natural light. No minifridge for snacks and leftovers. A little pricey.

The location a few blocks from stores, restaurants, Parque Madre, the Tomebamba River, and the bridge to Centro Historico was great! The bed was very comfortable with great pillows and bedding. My room only had a small high window so not a lot of natural light but good lighting in the room. The Internet worked well. The bathroom had a good hot shower. The free coffee, tea, and water in the lobby were appreciated. I had requested a fan (I find it helps to muffle noises in these historic properties) and the staff had one available for me. Excellent service from all hotel personnel I interacted with. The breakfast was above and beyond expectations - the small menu provided several choices. It was the best I have had in Ecuador so far! The lobby area was furnished well with sofas and chairs.

I wish they had more channels in English or subtitles in English. The water to the jacuzzi could be hotter.

I felt save. Most of the time it was quiet. The hostel is beautiful.

The location is perfect, close enough to the main centre for a lovely walk, yet far enough to be nice and quiet. Staff are beyond helpful, english is spoken too. Big supermarket nearby as well as lots of food options. Place was clean, fresh towels everyday and a nice secure parking. We parked 2 Motorcycles securely locked behind gates. Breakfast was great, really can't speak highly enough of this place. Do I need to mention Hot showers!

I was provided with a room on the third floor which meant that the window was five feet above my head, at the peak of the ceiling. It provided only light and sounds from the traffic on the street below.

They call themselves a hostel, however this is a luxury hotel. The common areas are impressive with spiral marble staircase, a comfortable executive style sitting room whereby guests could have use of a computer, as well as a fully stocked kitchen for those who would like to cook. The room was lovely with a comfortable bed and private bathroom.

    Everything was good.

Villa Emilia Hostal is more like a small boutique hotel than the usual hostel. It has private bathrooms, large clean rooms, and has parking spaces on its premises. Breakfast was included and was excellent. The location was centric and close to many stores. I think that there is also a shopping center close by (not sure, but definitely a Supermaxi a few blocks away).

Breakfast could have had more variety. That said, they fried two eggs instead of the standard ham omelette. Also, was having issues with hot water as you have to wait several minutes until it is hot enough to take a shower.

Excellent location, room size, and friendly and accommodating staff.

If I were to be picky, a second bedside table, bedside reading lights, and a light over the bathroom mirror for shaving would be nice, but those things were certainly not a problem.

This hotel seems to be a totally new renovation of an older building. Everything inside is new and extremely clean. The staff is incredibly helpful! We had poor internet in our room and told the front desk. We went out for a walk and upon return, the owner had installed a new and stronger router on our floor that completely fixed the problem! Amazing! The owner also speaks good English. The bed is larger than most (Queen?), comfortable, and has nice quality bedding. Rooms have quiet, individual mini-split heat and AC units. Shower has plenty of hot water. Location is two blocks inland from the north end of the Malacon 2000 near the gondola. Reasonable rates include a basic egg breakfast. The street is quieter than the main one along the Malacon. Some rooms do not have external windows, but would be quiet. Truly a great value in this rather expensive city!
