Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

It’s not so far away from Barcelona’s downtown but with that said the area is a bit weird at night…the streets are dark and I would not recommend to be roaming late at night there.
The staff were helpful and kind, they helped me with everything I needed. The bed was comfortable and the bed sheets were clean and fresh and so was the bathroom. My single room was small but cozy. It’s close enough to Barcelona downtown (about 2km) and about 2 quarters from the nearby metro.

Could be a bit more cleaner, we were there in a period when they had some adaptation on the same floor, so it was not clean in the hallway and workers started with their work in the morning always, so late sleeping wasn't an option.
Location (lot of bars in the street, always full of people and very "live" area),, service desk availability (24/7), metro station is nearby...

There was construction during the day. Despite my room being a non smoker room, my room still smelled slightly of smoke. The window was facing other rooms and people were probably smoking outside their windows and it came into my room. The room was not fully cleaned the first day, but was cleaned the other days I stayed in the room. My advice is to ask for an extra pillow since one will not be enough.
The hostel was in a good location in the city. I was able to walk to most of the attractions within 10-30 minutes. There was an elevator. The room also had working AC and shower.

Moisture in the bathroom, despite ventilation. That is a common problem, I think, but cleaning should be better becouse of it.
I'm passionate tourist, I don't require luxury. And it was all I needed. Small SINGLE room with small but my OWN bathroom! Heating in February , private safe. And satisfied breakfast with takeaway snacks. Metro station at the end of the street, Montjuic at the other end. Everywhere you can get by walk.

Rooms could have been bigger. (Double bed was really small for two people) Breakfast was really poor and repetitive. You don’t have much choice.
Location was very good. Supermarket was near. Staff members were polite and helpful.

The internet connection was really bad. Most of the time, only one device in our room could be connected to the network. The room had a constant stuffy smell, even when we kept the window open. The beds were not very comfortable. But for a short stay, especially if you're outside most of the time anyway, it's a great place considering the price and location.
The location is great. The metro station is very close, and it is easy to reach other areas in the city even on foot. There are supermarkets and restaurants closeby which are great throughout the whole day. The staff was very nice during the whole stay. It is good for a cheap, short stay.

Unfortunately one of the staff was very unfriendly as my friend and I lingered about 20 minutes after check-out - in my case a new check-in for a smaller room was coming up - but it was definitely not a big deal. I would have appreciated a little fridge in the room where to store drinks and food, but everything else was pretty much alright.
The room was quite clean, hotel has 24/7 reception, and vending machines are available for cold and hot drinks and snacks. The receptionists were very friendly and one of those - who had a couple night shifts during my stay - was super cute, but that is just my own opinion.
