Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Lithuaniahotel Peninsular, like the whole city of Barcelona is full of contrasts, so - know that! at first we got two single rooms without windows, without ventilation and one of them even had a big mold on the wall to which we said strict no! The reception had no problem changing both of the rooms into a good double room and a newly refurbished single room with a bath, both with windows to outside. So, there is definitely a chance of luck in getting the good room here, however, if there are options and its not too busy, they will change rooms. Definitely a place for those unafraid of uncertainty. :)
Great location! interesting, authentic hotel space - ex. monastery renovated in authentic way. Nice communal space. Okay breakfast - no veggies but good basic choices for those who can eat everything. :) Nice friendly staff, room cleaning and basic facilities.

SpainThe hotel is situated in the Gothic quarter, this is my 3rd visit to Barcelona and I do not feel I would be in a hurry to visit again. This is not because of the hotel or any problem with Booking.com it is sadly that I feel the once beautiful city is being taken down to the level of a large number of its new inhabitants. There have been changes that I on a personal level feel are more to do with how people choose to live. The streets nearby were dirty and littered, there was Graffiti on many of the walls advising tourists to go home and on several occasions we received verbal abuse from people who I hasten to add were not Spanish. I would also stress for those reading this review, I did not find that all areas of Barcelona were unpleasant, it remains in most parts beautiful and well worth a visit.
The hotel was beautiful, we all fell in love with it. It is true its a little dated but we were unsure how it could be updated sympathetically. How can such a beautiful old building be changed without loosing a great deal of the charm of the place. We loved it and were happy in the evenings to just sit in the communal area, chat and enjoy the surroundings. I had asked for the rooms together and initially this was provided however I am disabled and felt it would be difficult to be in our allocated room so asked for another, there was no question, it was found straight away. Nothing was to much trouble. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast although not a full English was perfectly fine with a good variety of meats, cheeses & Bread and certainly was plentiful. The location was perfect for all local sightseeing, Ramblas, Cathedral etc and within a few minutes walk to the metro

BulgariaIt is incomprehensible to me why since the bathroom has a window (vent), it is not intended to open. Summer is not a problem, but winter condensation is likely to form. The lack of ventilation also leads to the smell of sewage. With a few improvements in the interior, the placement of the furniture and the distribution of the space, the hotel can become great.
If you are used to luxury and comfort. If you have slept at Hilton, Ritz, Palms, The Plaza …… then this is not your place. If you are an adventurer, an explorer and like a little discomfort, you can easily book here. A minimalist hotel that offers everything for a short stay. The rooms are small, but clean and with comfortable beds. The bathrooms are small, it's even hard to get into the shower, it's hard to brush your teeth at the sink (if you stay here you'll understand why), and unfortunately the bathroom has no ventilation. Breakfast is continental on a buffet table

IsraelThe room seemed quite old and could use a bit of renovation. The bathroom was renovated but nonetheless, the shower water kept switching from hot to cold and vice versa. All in all, it was alright though.
Good value for money. Got what I expected. The hotel has charm, and the location is right next to La Rambla and the metro. Friendly staff, 24-hour reception. The room was very spacious.

FinlandIt wasn't as clean as I would expect, there was no shampoo or anything in the shower. Just a tiny bar of soap in the bathroom for washing hands. There werent any accomondation you would find in a hotel, like tv or hair dryer. The floor was crooked and a bit sticky. Room was very cold during night even when I tried to put the ac on heating. The beds werent very soft and the same could be said about the blanket/comforter/duvet situation. Like many have mentioned the smell of sewer was present. Breakfast was mid. And there is literally no soundproofing at all.
The location was extremely handy. Very close to metro and easy access to most places. The interior of the lobby and hang out place was fantastic looking and very comfortable. Staff was helpful and nice. Room had a small window and the room itself was fairly big. I could check out early in the morning and come and go as I pleased. On top of the staff being nice the athmosphere was welcoming and the lobby had lots of maps and little papers telling you about Barcelona. I like that they kept the old look of the building in the rooms.

SerbiaThe wifi didn't work in the room, but it didn't bother us because we bought a card for the internet (10eur for 50GB). There was a stale smell in the hall, but it was not felt in the room.
Perfect location, one corner from the main promenade and from the metro station (Liceu). Great price for this location and the rooms were according the price, low budget. Breakfast was ok, basic, solid. The staff was friendly. The cleaner was there every day, the towels were changed every day and the bed was made. Comfy mattress. We had night flight so we arrived with taxi (45e) and we returned to airport with shuttle bus (cca.8 eur per person) that going from Placa Catalunya, and that main station is 7 min walk from hotel.
