There were no cups in the kitchen, not a single pan or a kettle. No plates or cutlery. Wasn't essential, but it would be nice to make a cup of tea. Especially when the whole kitchen was there.

Great location. Close to metro station, Plaza Espanol, the Palace. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room. Would recommend it.

The beds were uncomfortable and the bedding was very old fashioned, blankets rather than duvets. Noise from the street was an issue at times during the night.

We liked the location of the hotel, very near plazas and restaurant. The room is clean and had a good amount of space. Staff is helpful and would really try their best to attend to our needs. We were lucky to see the sheep parade (once a year event) when we walked to Plaza Mayor from the hotel.

Our triple room was small and the third bed was really not a bed but more like a crib. Also the walls in the hotel are thin and we heard a baby was crying all night.

I liked the central location of the hotel it was easy walk to real Madrid Palace and Madrid cathedral. Also hotel stuff was very friendly we arrived early in the morning and so hotel staff allowed us to store our luggage until our room was ready.

Noise carries through from room to room due to old architecture - however easily solved with a pair of earplugs. Lift is old and quite slow but shuts quickly, potentially catching little fingers or hands! Be cautious!

Marble floors were extra cool in the heatwave! Airconditioning was working faultlessly! There was a microwave and kitchenette; and the lovely lady on my first day generously found me a kettle to use for a cup of tea. Every member of staff was so professional and ALWAYS friendly - didn't grab everyone's name but Justine was exceptionally great at her job! So nice to have smiling friendly faces on the front desk to greet you daily - ready and willing to help with any question. Finally the LOCATION - you are a mere hop, skip and jump away from the city's famous Gran Via. Take the one-minute short cut around the Shangri-La Dim Sim bar and you're suddenly on Madrid's busiest shopping street, with hundreds of restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops and takeaway places to choose from for meals, churros, coffee (or a four-euro frozen mojito during heatwaves!)

The Check in was at 2 Pm but the room was given to us at 4 pm. They were not clear as to why the delay but it seems it's a common occurrence since we saw it happen to other guest. They said it was an issue with the cleaning department but i saw it happen on both days. Toiletries are non existent so bring your own.

Great location, right on the Gran Via. The rooms are very big with a small kitchen and a Balcony. The Hotel is a bit old but refurbished and the rooms are very clean. Overall a great place to stay.

The main issue was the noise levels due to the rooms not being well isolated. A couple of loud doors slammed, and the cars from the streets were loud. The person in the room next door was in distress at 6am for about 40 minutes and the following day he came from a party at 4am and we could hear everything.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room showed some wear but was clean. The size of the room is very generous. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning worked fine so the room was cool at night and during the day. The location was great since it was so close to everything else.
