Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The mattresses were a bit old and especially the mattress my friend slept on should be replaced because it was completely worn out. Other than that the rooms and facilities were great!
Location is amazing. The atmosphere was nice and we felt really welcome.

Not really. Everything was good.
Not that far from the train station. It’s old building but with good heating system so you will not be cold. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Staff was very helpfull and you can store there your luggages before check in and after check out.

Not very new showers and toilets, but comfortable for one-night-stay

Not much to dislike about the property. If I could be extremely nitpicky: perhaps adding 1-2 extra paper roll(s) in each toilets would be great

Bedroom was basic and curtains very thin / didn’t fully cover window. Walls were very thin so could hear people talking and laughing in the adjacent room.
Very friendly staff, could leave my bag there for free on the day I checked out. Location was great, only 10-15 mins walk to different parts of the city centre. Very close to public transport too. Good number of bathrooms and kitchen / communal area was lovely. Full control of bedroom radiator! Great having a sink in my single room.

The room is not very soundproof. The room next to mine is the dorm room and very close to the kitchen too. Can be noisy if you want to rest early and catch up very early flight.
The single room is comfortable and the location is close to all attractions as well as the train station.

You need to bring your own lock to use the lockers, and there are no towels provided, at least not for free. This is just something you need to consider. If your bag is heavy, getting it upstairs is a little tiring, since the hostel is on the second or third floor without an elevator. The shower I used was very smelly, the smell coming from the opening in the floor used to drain the water. I know sometimes that's just the way it is in an old building and you can't really help it. Still, taking a shower was not a nice experience.
The hostel is located in a lively neighbourhood with bars and restaurants close by. Helsinki is a small place so most things are at walking distance. The room was clean, staff was super nice and helpful. There are enough toilets and showers for the number of people as far as I noticed. The whole place has a cozy atmosphere and I liked to spend time there.

There are two bathrooms with a shower & toilet. If they are occupied, there still are two small toilets. One of them is really small not fulfilling the criteria of nowadays. But in sudden need it is so good to have it in deed.
Location is right in the centre with everything needed within walking distance. Staff is super frienly. Interior is from late 1800's and very cosy. Still there are all the modern conveniences needed. Kitchen/dining room is well equipped and a good place to meet fellow travellers.

I liked that there were also people on the reception and there was no noise during the night. The beds were pretty comfortable and I also liked a kitchen there. Everything was clean. :)

Hm,.... nothing to say about this. It was nice beeing there.
Its in good walking distance to the trainstation and the busterminal. The 24h reception is a BIG Plus! I realy liked the house itself and the big living/eating/kitchen area to use. The shared room was normal and equipped with everything needed. Also lockers are there. You could leave your bagpack in an extra room when going out. The staff is great and lovely!! I really liked it there.
