I didn't like that to check in, you had to go across the parking lot to the hotel. I hated the location. Great views of Tórshavn but it's a very inclined walk down and up. Especially to get to the grocery store.

I liked the quiet. I had the whole room to myself and I had the entire hostel to myself for a period of time. The winter isn't to busy in the Faroes.

Noisy people in other rooms but it's a hostel so bring earplugs in case. If you don't have a car, you need to get a bus then walk up a steep hill. If you have a heavy bag, best get a taxi.

It is a little clairaudient, so if your neighbours are noisy, it is noisy in your room as well. The beds are not the most comfiest ones, but manageable.

I stayed in a dorm for four people, but had it for myself the whole time, which was awesome. The view from there is spectacular, but consider, the place is on a hill, so you have to hike up there. It is very quiet outside and you can go on nice hikes or explore the city from there. The kitchen and dining area is huge and well equipped. The bathrooms are good as well - very clean and great water pressure. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The location was really bad for a traveller with no car. You have to take a taxi cab into the city. A walk into the city wouldn't be so bad but the Faroese weather can be unpredictable and a walk in a rainstorm is no fun.

The Hotel Foroyor is right next door so you can get a first class breakfast and good drinks at the bar (for a price of course). Often, celebrities and other well-known people will stay at the hotel when visiting the Faroes so that's kind of cool. When I was there the Hungarian national football team was staying at the hotel for a few days. The facilities of the hostel were typical, but everything you needed was there which was great.

Rooms are lacking lockers for luggage and beds are lacking power sockets, so two of the most important things for a hostel and they fail on both of them. Breakfast in Hotel Foroyar really expensive.

Very clean and warm with comfy beds and well equipped kitchen, great view over Torshavn

Have to say there are a bunch of things I did not like. There was no staff at the hostel which causes a problem because it's a free-for-all. It was a large group of high school students that were there the three nights I was there that pretty much ran the place and couldn't care less what others were there. I actually had high school students walking around in their underwear in the hallways. Nobody cleans up after themselves and the place is a mess half the time because of it. I also had bugs in my bed because after spending 3 days there I was covered in bites. There is nowhere else I could have gotten them. Also while the view from the hostel was great, the distance from town steps to be a real slog after a bit. You can't afford to take a taxi back and forth to the place so have to do a lot of walking uphill. It starts to become a real pain.

The property is a good basic deal for the area that gives you everything that you do need. It's the only budget place in the area that usually has availability

The dorms are clearly designed for two people (two sockets, two closets), although four or six fit in, somehow. Not enough space to move or store stuff decently. Wi-Fi not working at all as soon as the hostel fills up, bathrooms should have been cleaned way more often. It's though to climb up to/get down from the upper bed without a chair. Earplugs are rather needed.

Location is breathtaking, lovely buildings, perfect as a starting point for hiking around. Breakfast, although expensive, is really good.

Far from the city centre on a hill (rather hard even for us the foot-travellers). All the staff is in the Hotel Foroyar, the hostel building without any staff person to help. There is no social space besides the dining room. The rooms were rather small, and so were the lockers (5 Kr coin per day). The hostel's cleaning policy is to tell the guests to sweep the flour by themselves.

The view of the city is excellent (if there is no fog ;)). The shower rooms are large and are equipped with the shelves. The kitchen has all the needed facilities. The linen is included, so are the towels.

Like everyone says its a big hike from the bus/ferry terminal. It was ok for the first few days but towards the end on my trip my legs were really struggling since Id already been hiking all day every day. Also a very quiet hostel. I was solo and love meeting people at hostels but didn't have much luck here. That shouldnt be a problem if youre travelling with someone though!

Great bathroom facilities! That shower was perfect after a days hiking!i found the hostel very clean too.

Great hostel in Tórshavn. Located in beautiful area above the city. It takes around 30 minutes to get to the city centre but it is a nice walk down the hill. The way back to the hostel is not that difficult and people can use red bus number 1 which is free of charge, the bus stops at the main road and from there it is around 10 minutes to get to the hostel :)

The hotel is way out of town, it didn't sound so far on the reviews, and without luggage it is managable, especially with the free town buses, but we came in on the ferry close to midnight and thankfully someone from the ferry gave us a ride. It was a little pricey as far as hostels go, but everything was super expensive in the Faroe Islands, so it was a good deal for where we were.

There was a well stocked kitchen with lots of space for many people to work at the same time. Sheets and blankets were provided. There was great space in the rooms for each person's belongings which was wonderful.

Too far away from the city. Buses do run, however if you visit on a Sunday (like I did) they dont run at all. 35 min walk unless you want expensive taxis. There is no reception dedicated to the hostel. You have to go to reception at Hotel Foroya. This can be quite horrible if it is pitch black and very cold walking through the carpark if you need something. Communal area is very dated. There are not enough power points in the rooms.

    The beds were very comfortable.

Consider renting a car to move around, otherwise the walking path from the town to the hostel can be a bit demanding, especially if you want to buy some groceries, as stores are not very close to the hostel.

Great and friendly staff, very comfortable facilities. Especially when travelling with a tight budget. Location is amazing, with a great view of the town.

The hostel is part of the Hotel Føroyar complex, which is where the reception is located. The service provided at reception was slow and unfriendly.

A well run and clean hostel that provided all the basic requirements and was convenient, especially when travelling by car (not so convenient if no car). Although reasonable value by local standards, it is still very, very expensive.

-The location can be a little bit of a challenge if you don't have a car. You can take the bus into town and that works out okay, but you need to climb up a pretty steep hill to get to the hostel from the bus stop - that's good to know beforehand.

-Clean -Reception at nearby hotel so open 24/7 -nice view overlooking the city

The hostel is a little out of town about 3km up a hill, but I guess most people are in the Faroes to walk so no big deal. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Check in is at the 4 star hotel next door and the staff are very friendly. Good breakfast at the hotel for about 140kr.

If you're walking, make sure you're prepared for a half-hour hike uphill! Only one plug socket in the room and it was 2 metres from the floor.

Very comfortable (if small) double private room. Laundry and kitchen facilities were excellent, as was the dining room, and the Wi-Fi was also very good the whole time we were there. Great to have a bar next door at the hotel!

There's no place to relax other then the dinning room. I would have preferred fewer tables and a corner devoted to a couch and comfy chair. The dorm rooms are a bit small for just chilling in and after a long day exploring something soft to sit on before bed would be nice. Otherwise its a great base for exploring the islands.

This is a great basic hostel. It's clean and tidy with a good kitchen. It's location is great for access to the hill hikes and for getting a sense of the town. I loved that the local sheep wander around outside. It's run by the hotel next door (a fancy-shmancy place where Bill Clinton and the Queen of Denmark stay) so it can be a bit odd to stop by in your grubby hiking gear with questions. On the other hand there are sheep in the parking lot so, what's a grubby hiker! And the staff treat the hostel guests with as much respect and respond to issues just as fast as they do the hotel guests so good on them! Yes it is on top of a big hill, yes my first 2 walks up the hill made my legs strain, and carrying groceries up was no fun, but you don't go to the Faroe Islands for flat, lazy walks in the sun.

The location was awful (40 min walk to downtown), the beds were dirty, pillows were yellowed from being reused so much. I booked a 4-person room but was put in a 6-person dorm. I would recommend staying here only if you have no other choice.

This is the cheapest place in town. The kitchen was clean and well-equipped. Provides a great view of Torshavn. 24-hour check-in with the hotel next door. Showers worked well.

For someone with arthritis the climb up from the bus stop was a bit of a struggle but taken carefully it was fine. Used taxis quite a few times and approx £10 GBP, taxi drivers-like the bus drivers -really polite and helpful. I must learn more Faroese before I come again but a heartfelt Takk to all.

The hotel staff were really lovely both on reception and in the restaurant. Had breakfast there some mornings which was a great set up for the day and it was excellent Was told by another hostel couple that they had had a dinner there too which was also first class. Hostel itself was just the best for independent travelling, only concern would be insufficient electric sockets if room fully occupied for phones and camera batteries recharging. Multiplug a definite help in busy times, also some bigger mugs for drinks in the kitchen as little cups not really enough for soups, hot chocolate drinks etc. Just a suggestion, not a criticism. Apart from that I was delighted by the helpful friendly advice, the good value arrangement between hostel and hotel and the views across to Nolsoy over breakfast were wonderful in the changing morning light. Altogether a great trip, quiet in April but still lots to see and do.

Situated atop a hill giving a great view of Tórshavn. Conveniently located to travel around Faroe islands. Well equipped kitchen. Clean bathroom and toilets. Clean bathroom, kitchen, comfortable bed and room. The staff was very friendly and helpful who provided many sightseeing information to me!!! Hostel is located on the hill by 10mins walking from the No.1 red bus stop on mid-hill. However, the view is panorama of Torshavn which is fantastic.

Clean, quiet, comfortable hostel, with close access to incredible food at the hotel. The view from our window was stellar, and our room was lovely and warm. A great place to rest our heads at the end of the day. The hotel reception staff were also very helpful with booking our helicopter and kept our baggage for us after we checked out, so we could spend our last few hours wandering around Torshavn. A fantastic place to stay for travellers on a budget.

Travelled in late September and had an entire 6-bedroom dorm to myself so it was definitely good value. Was able to use a computer at the neighbouring hotel to print my boarding passes. From the town or red (free) bus stop, it's a bit of a hike up an unlit path through fields/trees so advisable to take an airport shuttle rather than the blue (pay) bus if arriving in the dark. The information desk at the airport sells a multi-day bus/ferry pass that will get you almost anywhere in the Faroes.

Although the view of the city is great, it is a 30 minute walk up a hill from the city center. There are taxis that are willing to take you there, but as you can imagine they are not that cheap.

The hostel offers the best value for money in Torshavn. Although there is no breakfast included, you have a fully-fitted kitchen at your disposal. The rooms and hostel in general was very clean. You have a 24 hour reception, due to the fact that it is found in the nearby 4 star hotel.

Bare bones and rooms are too small for the amount of people in them. Zero sound insulation, i could hear the guy next door snoring throught the wall which compounded the woman snoring in the room i was in. Miles away from town with no option but getting a twenty dollar cab to and from the hotel. It is over half an hour walk into town even with the short cut trail from the carpark. Please advise this is a requirement, hostels are for people on a budget, having to spend close to $40 dollars on cabs just to get to and from the bus stop is something budget travellers need to be aware of. The buses in town are almost non existant and the closest one to the hotel is still a 10 plus minute walk uphill on an unpaved gravel path... with 15kgs of luggage??? Everything was kept very clean and the ponies next door are cute.

The cheapest in the island, clean rooms, friendly staff at the hotel reception. The view is beautiful. And the breakfast is worth its price with a nice buffet including salmon and lamb... You can even have the room for your own if there are not many people.

Unbelievably noisy. No sound insulation over two floors, one could hear everything between walls of next door rooms, as well as footfalls and noisy door locks opening and closing, together with doors banging along corridors. Beware rooms 3 &4 on the ground floor and 11 & 13 on the first which have communal toilets built into their corners and noisy extractor fans constantly hum when light is left on in the toilet or the toilet is in use. Absolutely no chance of a quite nights sleep. Would never stay here again because of this, but then one feels this hostel is relying on transitory visitors who would not be coming again anyway.

Clean interior. A basic Scandinavia hostel, which usually have high standards, but here basic is the key word. Breakfast at next door hotel, although 110 dkk extra, is very very good, far higher standard than the usual Scandinavia breakfast board and the dining room setting spectacular, with a view down on the whole of Torshavn. Exact same breakfast which hotel guests have and with whom one has breakfast, no distinction made. Really would recommend both breakfast and its setting. Hotel staff themselves very friendly and professional.

Two things to note: - approx. 25 mins. walk to the town centre, STEEP AND WINDY all the time! no bus-service at night - take an airport-taxi at the airport directly, it's the same price as when taking the bus to the bus terminal and then paying a taxi up to the hostel!! (I had no idea and was quite disappointed to find that one out later on) - no charm /atmosphere whatsoever - staff at hotel reception was pretty unfriendly when arriving (Receptionist: 'This is the worst summer we've had in years. It's not a good year to come to travel the Faroe Islands.' - well thank you for that information, very welcoming) and as well when asking for other information - kitchen as well as showers were very untidy and dirty (bring flip flops to shower!) - some guests clearly smoked in their rooms (although forbidden), you could smell it in the hallway and in our room

    - Probably the cheapest beds you can get in town - kitchen (pretty dirty) was well equipped with quite a few cooking 'helpers' (e.g. tea cooker and toaster), although some things clearly missed (e.g. only one knife to be found in drawers) - big common area - clean linen for all guests - possibility to do laundry

Great view of Torshavn from our room (a bit over half of the rooms in the hostel and all of the rooms in the hotel face the water)! Staff are very helpful, and the breakfast is great, if a little expensive (~$15). Totally worth it for the view and relaxing atmosphere.

Plug points in crazy places (by the ceiling, 4 foot up by the door) - it's the only small moan I can think of really and mainly because gadgets have such short charging leads. You have to boil Torshavn tap water before drinking at the moment.

Price for a double room so much cheaper than hotels in the city. Fantastic views down to Torshavn from our window. Clean communal facilities, realiable free Wifi throughout. Free #1 bus every 20 minutes to the centre from the bottom of the hill.

It was too far from the downtown area and up hill. Had to take a taxi.

It is a nice hostel and fits in with the surrounding countryside in an organic sort of way.

The hostel's location is quite beautiful but far away from the city.

Beautiful window view - you can see the city, the mountains, the ocean and Nolsoy island (if there is no fog)... and there are some sheep walking around... Big well-equipped kitchen (not always clean though). Friendly and helpful staff.

You have to clean the room by yourself, and only the fewest people do this. No public transport to the hostel, only 2 very steep and uneven paths from the nearest bus-station (local busses do not run on sunday) Kitchen equipment was not enough (gryder, sharp knives). Wifi did not work in the room. The staff from the nearby hotel, who do the check in and check out, do not know anything about the hostel, e.g. where to put the trash from the room or how to use the safety lockers.

Very nice location, if you have a car. Great view. Bath and toilet were clean. The laundry-facilities are very good. Rooms are small for 4 people, but ok.

Very far from the town. If you have no car, you'll have trouble walking back and forth. You get used to it later, but still a long walk.

Cozy rooms and nice beds. The view from the hostel is great.

I would appreciate if the owner would ask the guests to take off the shoes at the entrance instead of walking around with dirty boots all over the building including the bathrooms. In Iceland they do it everywhere.

Clothes dryer cut off leaving me with damp clothes and 30DKK out of pocket. Other guests stole my milk. Dry muesli makes me sad.

I stayed a week in the 4 bed dorm. It was generally peaceful. About a 25 minute walk to the bus/ferry terminal. Fantastic views down onto Torshavn and Nolsoy island. A few footpaths nearby for wandering around the hills. Breakfast in the hotel was good but pricey (110DKK).

    Nothing

Location: on the hill with wonderful view over the harbor, it is actually next to an expensive hotel, so both are located equally with an apparent marginal price difference. Very clean. The reception is at the hotel 100 m away, open 24 hours; the breakfast is served there as well but expensive. The hostel has its kitchen that is as remarkably clean as the rest of the facility. The hostel's location is very good for bicyclists heading on the next day to the airport: 50 km of the niciest road slightly hilly. The town of Torshavn is 15 minutes' fast ride down the hill.

    - A bit far to walk with all your stuff. Allow half an hour up hill. There is a bus you can get, with a 10 min walk after. It runs every 20 minutes, but rarely comes in evenings and weekends. - Only time it is noisy is when groups of teenagers come

    - Clean - Very quiet - Had 6 person dormitory to myself for a week! I think they try to give people their own rooms if there is space. - 24 hour reception at the hotel - Nice modern wooden rooms - Well equipped kitchen

Breakfast: not included at the hostel, but well worth the price at the adjacent hotel. The hostel itself: Rooms clean. Well equipped kitchen. Nice staff at the adjacent hotel. Very nice view. The way down to the centre of Torshavn is gravel/asphalt and partly quite dark at night and steep. I did not find this problematic (on the contrary, quite nice and scenic), but I am putting this info out here for those who might.

It was a little inconvenient to have to go downstairs to reach the showers. It would be nice to have showers on both floors. Also, the walls are very thin, and a guy in the next room was making phone calls late into the night.

The rooms are very nice, very clean, and the bathrooms are conveniently located.

One of my fellow guests was horribly rude and insulting, but hey. Not everyone is nice, right? And the place was so great that couldn't even ruin my time!

The staff was so helpful and knowledgable. They made me feel at home and helped me plan my days so I'd have an unforgettable experience!

Quite a hike from city center, and while the linens were clean, they smelled a little like play dough.

Excellent breakfast at the hotel next door.
