눉There was nothing really that we did not like. However, it is worth mentioning that whilst able to enjoy the freedom of the castle and its grounds (from 3 pm onwards when the property is opened up) it is up to you to amuse yourself until the evening meal is served. Of course, this provides an opportunity to converse with other guests, which is part of the experience of travelling.
눇Apart from the opportunity to stay in a castle the highlight of our visit was the evening meal. This is offered as an optional extra but really should be part of the experience as the castle is some distance from the nearest town, meaning that if you are unable to book a table you will have to drive to eat out. So, my advice is to ensure you have a table before confirming, or taking up, your reservation. On our visit there were 16 places in the dining room (8 tables at 2 per table), which appeared to be the maximum. There is no menu choice (but you will be asked when you book if you have any food allergies). This is because the chef plans the meal according to the best ingredients available on the day. The chef seems to do everything (although there are 2 assistants in the kitchen). The chef lights the candelabra on each table, puts logs on the open fire, serves drinks and brings each food course to your table, explaining as he does so what you are about to eat. He is very relaxed as he does all this, a sign that everything is under control and has been well planned. The setting is exceptional, as too is the meal. This is described as a 4 course meal with wine with every course. In reality 2 appetisers were also served and the wine amounted to a bottle of white then red wine per table, preceded by a glass of Cremant Mirabelles (absolutely delicious) and to finish a glass of champagne.

눉It was hard to find and quite a wat from the nearest village...it is in a hamlet with no amenities.
눇The most amazing old chateau, and really good value for money.
