Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Walls were quite thin so heard doors and showers from neighbouring rooms.
Location: right next to train station. Facilities: had everything we needed. Water machine in bar area was helpful. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Minor problem with safe. Toilet room was very small.
Staff very helpful, hotel clean, room nicely decorated. Bathroom well equipped and all functioned properly. Hotel location great with tram service very close by.

Standard room possibly just a little on the small side but didn’t ruin our 3 night stay
Friendly, clean, good location for exploring Lyon. Bed exceptionally comfortable. Good shower !!!

The website says there's a restaurant in the hotel. There isn't.
Excellent staff, big comfy rooms, nice bed. Bathroom was huge (for Europe). Good breakfast.

The superior room that I booked was quite small, there was no fridge, no sleepers and a bathrobe. Also, correspondence fryhe hotel was only in French, I didn't understand a word. I have asked them to make our room extra special because I booked for our anniversary, and nothing has been done, not even card with “ congratulation😟
The location was great, close to the old city, public transport., breakfast was nice, but they are short of staff, when it is busy one man can not be at different places at the same time.

The hotel was very close to the train station (5 min walk) and also within walking distance to the old town (around 30 mins). The staff were very friendly and helpful and for the price it was everything we needed!

Hotel needs a revamp very tired decor, room very cramped don't resemble photos on website.

The toilettes were very very small. There was the time above the TV, impossible to stop it and it made a very big blue light the whole night.
Bed was fine, shower too. Shampoo and after shampoo werre at disposal, and olso body lotion. Very good breakfast

Sound isolation was not good (all morning a was hearing of some couple having loud "fun" at their room). Elevators a bit old with closing doors and a bit tiny.
Really good hotel. Amazing and tasty breakfast, good bed. Conveniently located.Really good bathroom amenities.

Small TV far away, as the room was large. Not a real problem though
Spacious room, plenty of size and even a small desk. Comfortable bed and all amenities. Very nice location, close to tram, metro and train.

The staff were really nice and friendly and the room very comfortable. Also a very good breakfast and easy enough to walk into Old Town and the Roman ruins on the hill. Good transport links from the nearby metro/train station too. It's very urban and busy but fairly quiet at night and not any dodgy people hanging around the train station (which is common in Europe these days).

We were here for the fete des lumieres and though the hotel was comfortable, we thought the value wasn't there for the pricel. Breakfast in particular should have included more for the price. This is a good 30 minute walk from the old quarter and at least 10 minutes to Place Bellancour.
All staff were very responsive and helpful. They arranged taxis for us quickly and answered questions promptly.

The property was a great location to everything, we walked around the whole area. Staff were beautiful and helpful, you have to love it when you get there an hour early and they let you into your room. We even received a little thank you gift at the end.
