Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesAlthough everything seems at four star levels, a number of furnishings and fixtures in the room and bathroom are showing signs of age and or lack of maintenance funding. The restaurant definitely remains highest quality. I must mention that in spite of the very informative welcome notebook's instructions about placing international calls from the room phone, when put to the test the front desk insisted that it was not possible to place outside calls from the room telephone. This was a significant issue inasmuch as mobile phone coverage inside thick fortress walls was problematical. I must also add that in spite of prepaying my bill through bookings.com, the front desk insisted that I pay the room charge again, assuring me that I will be reimbursed for my initial payment from bookings.com. They were adamant about this irritating anomaly.
This was my third stay at this property, over two decades. It warrants its four star rating, with bonus points for its very unique locale in a distinguished fortification in a distinguished city. Rooms are quiet as a fort. The restaurant where I had several dinners, including Christmas, deserves recognition.

BelgiumBreakfast was not great. Better get a croissant from the town (5 minutes) and make coffee/tea in your room.
Atmospheric stay in a historic venue. Rooms and public areas of the hotel sensitively balanced the original features with modern comfort. Very helpful staff. Short walk to restaurants etc in town. Take advantage of the discount on tickets to visit to the interesting chateau-fort.

CanadaMeal in restaurant was mediocre. And meal took almost 2 hours with wait. Arrivals after us got food before us. Not value for price.
Almost all with room.

LuxembourgI was quite disappointed about the restaurant. Very expensive for what I consider basic and tasteless food. Nice to accommodate a vegetarian and a ‘only fish not meat request’, but besides this main dishes being badly improvised the entrances and desserts from the ‘normal menu’ were also quite disappointing. The stuff however was very friendly!
The rooms were big and the bed very confortable. The building is impressive. The stuff was very friendly.

FinlandThe breakfest and hotel´s restaurant were clearly overpriced for the quality we had. The rooms are not sound-proof. Some noice comes from the stone yard close to access.
Good location and free parking so close to entrance.

United KingdomThere were tea and coffee making facilities in the room but we were provided with small paper cups, not great for a hot drink and definitely out of keeping with the standard of the hotel.
Stunning setting right inside the castle courtyard, it is a special place to stay. Small discount on entry to the castle which is well worth looking round but no good for anyone with limited mobility. Very good breakfast.

United KingdomOur room was large and comfortable but felt it lacked a few soft touches. We were on the top floor which was fine and reached to floor 6 by lift but then we had to go through a totally unmarked door to climb up stairs to our floor. It needed a bit of signage!!
A unique setting- huge and wonderfully renovated and converted. A friendly and helpful welcome. A nice meal in a large , stylish restaurant. Easy secure parking. A very comfortable bed.

DenmarkWe visited Hôtel le Château Fort de Sedan for the third time and this time for 2 days. It is a very speciel hotel with speciel rooms (we like the paintings on the wall behind the bed very much). A very fine dinner in the restaurant. Exiting to visit the museum and the fort,

GermanyOf course we knew in advance that we were visiting a former fort, but still it looked like a gloomy medieval fortress and we were a bit disappointed at first sight.
We liked our room, esp. the painting above our bed, the bed was excellent. Unfortunately we cannot judge the restaurant, since we were in town (there was a fair that evening), but the breakfast next morning was really satisfying.,

United KingdomSmall room, but we did book the cheaper room, no aircon, internet very poor, its is 2023 isn't it?....we didnt have any breakfast as it was €14 extra each, we looked into the restaurant and the breakfast wasn't 'help yourself' so we thought it would be small and expensive so gave it a miss, same as the evening meal.
Location, 2 mins walk from centre of Sedan, good parking inside the fort, but only from 6pm to 10am, staying in a fort experience

United KingdomTea and coffee facilities in the room were poor and did not match the quality of the rest of the hotel. You can only park inside the fort between 1800-1000 or risk a fine from the police, this wasn't mentioned on the website though you can park in the public carpark which was full when we got there on a Sunday PM
Worth staying just for the location which is very impressive. Rooms were clean with good quality finishings. Staff were very helpful and we thought the. evening meal though not cheap warranted the price and was of a very high standard with excellent service
