Was not converting to a Mercure hotel until 15 October the building had signs stating it was Astoria hotel and was still undergoing finish construction. Created confusion in trying to find the location for our booking, no mention of construction continuing.  Detailed description stated it was a two bed and sofa bed room room (which was why we booked it) Actually it was a queen bed with a sofa bed.  Rereading the main description it did state it was a one bed and sofa bed, obviously conflicting descriptions.  disappointing to see this from Booking.com

The hotel was undergoing some renovation work when I was there which meant the main downstairs area was a work site and there was some drilling. The good news is that it will all be looking fresh and modern for the next guests.

Room was very large, very clean, very comfortable and very modern. The large bed was divine to sleep in. The staff were welcoming, polite and went out of their way to help.

The hotel is being renovated, it didn’t affect my stay and the staff still served me drinks but the pool.

Our stay was in the middle of a major refurbishment. This didn’t affect our stay but decoration was ongoing. It will. Be great when it is all done. Not a very large car park.

Beautiful large room with sofa and large tv. Breakfast plentiful. Easy access to the city. Good restaurants close by.

It was a little bit cold ... would have liked to turn up the heating. I think maybe the carpets need cleaning, smelled a bit old.

Doors to corridor very noisy but didn't effect you once in your room

Why should we expect English TV channels! but it did say two were available and they weren’t.

It was absolutely ideal as we have had a busy holiday travelling and we could rest in a pleasant apartment that was comfortable and well equipped. The information book provided in the room was helpful and detailed.

It is a bit of a walk into town but the benefit of the pool makes it the best hotel.

We were given a nice quiet suite on the third floor overlooking the pool. The pool was so inviting particularly in the heatwave we were experiencing. Our suite was well equipt for making simple food and the breakfast option was really good to set you up for the day.

This property is being renovated and should not be offering rooms for occupation. When I put the address in my Sat nav it came up “Hotel closed” and so it is in effect. On arrival the place look deserted. Furniture stacked up outside under the porch. Dust sheets throughout what could be seen of the ground floor. Reception ? One lady on a bar stool with a lap top. No bar facilities - no one around at all. Grounds neglected. Not somewhere I would have felt comfortable or safe staying overnight

Nothing - we didn’t take up our booking - we found somewhere else to stay.

Bart happy with everything

The hotel was undergoing renovation but this did not detract at all from our stay. The staff were lovely, the breakfast was great, the rooms were very comfortable and well appointed and the bathroom was spotless. Would highly recommend.

Reception was a bombsite. In the middle of renovating Booking . Com shouldn’t have recommended it. We spent a lot of money on the booking & would never have done so, had we known.
